Owner's Manual Revision History

On another thread, someone referred to "Page 138" of THE Owner's Manual.

My gripe:

Rivian! Produce a "Summary of Changes" between revisions of the OM!! Up in the front of the new version of the Owner's Manual. Some people call it other things. But whatever you call it, it alerts the reader to what/where changes are made.

I'm getting too old to bring up the new version on the right-half of my computer screen, and the new-minus-1 version on the left side, and scroll through both of them, top-to-bottom, to see what the changes are.

Have you ever tried a PDF diff/compare tool? There's a few online but I have never tried one. I've been reading the release notes which might be a better summary than seeing Owner's Guide differences.

Would be nice to know warranty changes.....for example...I think some restrictions on 12v and "adjustments" have been added since I got my truck, meaning they don't apply to me. I could be wrong....but would be nice to know.....

Edit:I found my original warranty and 12v batteries were covered 3/36 then...same as now....but the adjustment limitation is newer.

Yes, it would be a nice-to-have thing. But contrast this with the industry standard of giving you one printed manual upon purchase that never ever gets updated.

The only reason we get frequent updates to the owner's manual is because we get frequent updates to our vehicle's software and capabilities. These new features are called out in the update release notes and on the center screen when you update your vehicle software, so reading that covers most of the changes that occur in the manual.

I printed out a copy to keep in the truck. Even made a nice three ring binder with tabs. Then they updated the manual, so I re-did my printout.

Then they updated the manual again, and I was like:

Well, that would be nice too.

What I am referring to are documenting the topics and pages that were modified since the last revision.

I was in charge of a few million lines of documentation in my past life, and we supplied the end users with such revision documentation.

That's a good point. I wasn't thinking about warranties. Although they could provide a separate tool that allows us to look up our VIN's warranty.

If I were a vehicle manufacturer I would be worried about old versions of a manual potentially not including up to date safety information.
