PAAK - Only works when screen is on

Hello,

I have a Google Pixel 6 running Android 13. PAAK does not unlock my vehicle unless I turn on my screen. Proximity lock does not have this same issue and works flawlessly.

I have checked app permissions and battery optimization settings, but everything is essentially unrestricted.

Is this a know issue and/or is there a workaround other than reverting to using the fob or always unlocking my phone?

Not familiar with the Pixel, does it allow you to set location services by app so the Rivian App can be always on for location services? That is the setting recommended on the iPhone.

I had a Pixel 6 Pro and also a 7 Pro and had this issue. All I would need to do is turn the screen on and it would unlock the vehicle. It's as if the Bluetooth is sleeping and doesn't work until you wake up the phone. The problem is intermittent for me.

I had a service ticket still open from December on this and haven't been able to get it resolved by the service center.

Post corrected. It is indeed only necessary to turn my screen on. The phone doesn't need to be unlocked.

Same issue on Pixel 5. But most of the time i can get in and doesn't allow me to put into drive. Sucks. Is even worse if it is in deep sleep outside in the cold. Takes a while to even unlock.

It's definitely an issue with Rivian because I have other BLE devices such as a Kevo that works without me needing to touch my phone at all.

I have a Pixel 6a and also have the same issue. When I first got my truck a month ago it seemed to work fine. Seemed to get worst a couple of weeks ago. I just got the new 2023 update a few days ago so I know it is not related to that. I think tomorrow I'm going to try unpairing and repairing my phone.

Not defending Rivian on this.
Maybe things have changed but 5-6 years ago I worked on an Android app that used Bluetooth(heart rate)and GPS. It was a cluster to work with Bluetooth on Android.

I started having the same issue after the latest OTA with iPhone SE. It doesn’t happen every time but enough to be annoying. And all I have to do is wake my phone not unlock it and truck unlocks.

Similar issue with my iPhone SE. not so much with unlocking, but being prompted to present a key in order to take the truck out of park. Like @av8or , not every time, but “enough” times.

So your simply opens while phone is in your pocket as you approach each time perfectly? If so I will try this delete and reset up, but want to make sure you are saying it works like that on a galaxy.
