Anyone else frustrated by the fact that when parking, if you wish to leverage the parking proximity sensors, you must take your eyes away from the 360 view screen, where they should be overlaid anyway? I hate looking at the proximity sensors on separate screen, usually partially obscured by the steering wheel. Other cars do this so much better through integrating.

Yes!! It’s so annoying. Every other car overlays the sensors and it makes parking much easier. Must be an easy fix through an OTA. M

The engineer that design this part of the interface either doesn’t drive or failed his/her human factors class.

Not uncommon, unfortunately. I’ve owned several Volvos with 360-cameras and when the proximity sensors activate it takes over the center screen with a black silhouette of the vehicle with sensor data. Why not bring up the camera view, instead? If I want the camera I must stop the vehicle completely then press the “home” button, swipe left, then tap the “camera” button. It only works if I stop completely, too, because if I don’t it will immediately go back to the sensor screen even if I push “home”.

my point is it seems every auto company has obvious misses in UX.

My gripe with the existing proximity sensor display is that the outer rings disappear completely as you get closer to an obstacle. This makes it hard to tell at a quick glance how close you're getting because you have to try to figure out if the rings are yellow, orange, etc. The colors are great but I'd still like to see a "shadow" of the outer bars as you get closer so that I'm not having to count the bars or differentiate subtle color differences.

Agree that an overlay would be much more helpful than the current setup.

This is a great thread. I sure hope Rivian notices.

I disagree, I think the sensor overlay will make it harder to use the 360 view. A couple of places where I park are very tight and having the the clear 360 overview makes it very easy to navigate. I can literally get within a couple of inches using the cameras, the sensors are nowhere near as accurate.

If they do add this I hope it is optional.
