I can't comment on my R1S sleeping outside (since I always garage my cars), but I had a lemoned and completely disabled 2023 Model X that Tesla took 8 months to come tow out of my alley. I don't know if it could have been cleaned enough. So much sap had fallen that you could not make out anything through the windows. It was like a layer of super glue on the entire car.

I have been parking my R1S inside but the service center has been parking it outside. They won't return my calls so I stopped in person. They still wouldn't give my any information. The thrill is gone.

I always park it outside. My R1T dropped out of the factory before it graduated to becoming an R1S because it wanted to play in the woods everyday. It made the decisions it did and now it has to live with the consequences.

No issues other than it doesn’t do math very well for the guess-o-meter and sometimes records lots of stuff on the gear guard (it’s a dropout in the PNW, of course it’s into photography).

Seriously though, talk to a professional detailer and they’ll tell you that you can’t own and drive a car without damaging the paint. This is especially true of a daily driver. PPF can certainly help, but it’s very expensive and you’ll have to replace it after 5-7 years. If you’re worried about the effect of the elements on your paint, I’m assuming you plan to keep the car for at least that long as such elements aren’t gonna affect the paint at all in that timeframe unless it’s in truly extreme conditions. So then you’ll be out another $7,000 for another round of PPF for a total of about $14,000 after about 5-7 years of ownership for very marginal differences in appearance (from the elements - not talking about rock chips, pinstripes, etc. as that’s not the OP’s concern).

Funny you mention that. I've struck a deal where my R1 will be the star of a ppf shoot and I get a heavily discounted price. I was allowed to get 4 other friends in on the deal. Everyone is waiting for my car to be finished because they can't believe the deal I'm getting. This is my first car to get ppf. I wasn't that interested but it's so damn cheap. We shall see.

We lost our cypress trees after last winter. While I loved how they looked, they were murder on paint - and needles were everywhere.

They’re gone, and I started parking the T in the driveway much more often. Only downside is that we replaced the front landscaping with a focus on pollinators, and the bees went on a mad pooping spree, so my blue truck was tinged yellow for several weeks.

1 block from the ocean, generally wet. No issues so far.

Almost a year parking my R1T outside in the pacific northwest. No issues with paint or water intrusion or anything like that. My only issue parking it outside is water spots from sprinkler mist...on top of my ceramic coat. Oh well.

Has anyone purchased either the T or S and kept their car parked outside instead of the garage let me know how the wear and tear has been for the paint. Any issues you guys have had with parking outside?

Our has been outside 24/7 since we took delivery in May. We have it PPF and that has helped. Our garage is my workshop and when the weather starts to get bad we will be parking in our huge shed.

For me, this is a work truck* to replace 2 previous Ram 1500's.
Parked outside in Colorado since Feb 23:
1. Where's my tonneau??!! The bed collects snow and debris
2. As stated, the frunk windshield interface collects more leaves than usual but not a big deal
3. Stands up well to hail, some slight damage from golf ball sized spanking
4. Paint, nothing unusual yet. As expected bird poo, pine tree sap, etc. No fading.
5. Mobile app is awesome, turn on climate control before going to work
6. Charging, I installed the Rivian 48A charger on outside wall, works like a champ in cold, snow, and rain. Connector and cable are sturdy.

Both my R1S and R1T live outside. My R1S is street parked every night. I PPF'd and Ceramic coated them to avoid any issues and they have been absolutely fine.

Most likely depends heavily on the weather and plant life on your driveway. I ended up getting a carport installed over our driveway because falling leaves/twigs/debris kept falling on the truck. We have a black walnut tree that already dented the hood and tailgate before we could get the carport up. No issues with the paint however being outside over the spring/summer in PDX.

Also, the scoop area below the windshield just fills up with leaves, seed pods, twigs, etc so that when you open up the frunk, they all fall into the hydraulic channels that lift up the frunk on either side. most annoying part of parking it outside. Very OCD about all the little twigs and leaves in there. I try my best to clean it out daily. Not sure if they fall all the way down or are just piling up somewhere.
