Phone key pet peeve.

My R1S Gen2 is parked in my driveway. I open my garage door and from about 10 or 15 feet away the Riv unlocks and relocks when I get a little further away. Now its raining out and I am leaving the market with my arms full. I walk right up to my Riv and nothing with my dog starring at me from her expansive all seats down lounge. My phone is in my back pocket and I'm getting soaked. I adjust my packages which are also getting wet and pull out my phone and hold it near the door and finally it opens! WTF?!

Ha, i’ve done that and it does work, just not all the time. I think when it’s raining out and your hands full of groceries the gremlin has its way.

Rivian software has massive latency problem. It’s much faster to wake up a modern computer than a slumbering Rivian. She doesn’t respond to Bluetooth when having sweet dreams.

This happens to me as well. It’s the only love hate relationship I have with my R1T. Mostly happens at my work.

Same with me. I just walk near my garage and it unlocks and unlocks. Mind you, the app isn’t even running in the packground. But in the target parking lot, good ol Rivera has me looking like an idiot.
When I first got my Riv, I thought it was a bit alarmist. In ‘safe’ areas it could unlock from 6 car spots away. But in rougher areas in only unlocked right as I passed the rear quarter panel.

This is my biggest complaint about the Rivian!! It can take a full minute to "wake" and unlock, and it's maddening especially in the rain.

Bluetooth also doesn’t pass through eggplant and squash.

I just parked my car, only had it for two days, and walked about 30 feet to the Starbucks entrance and my car still hadn’t locked. I went inside praying that nobody would enjoy the comforts of my warm seats. When I came out the car had locked.

If my phone goes to sleep the PAK rarely works. Not sure why Rivian can't figure it out though. The BMW phone key works perfect.

Rivian haș no good answer here. They could leave some things on to catch PAAK, FOB, Card access quicker but then the vampire drain threads startup again. Or they can let things sleep longer, but then access isn't as quick.

If the vampire drain measuring crowd never existed Rivian would be like every other vehicle. Walk up and it opens. FWIW no-one ever measured battery drain on vehicles before EV's even though they all had a 6-12V battery that was in fact constantly discharging. Another unintended consequence of TMI, Social Media and the internet.

I like response time of FOB, instant, consistent and predictable. If you can’t match FOB’s functionality, don’t make it optional.

In my experience, the remote key unlock is hit and miss. Please submit an issue through Feedback on your app.
