Came back from a bike ride to find the PaaK not working.

When the Pixel 4a updated to the August update it broke, but started working again with the Sept. update. So I don't know why it stopped again.

I have deleted keys from the app, removed bluetooth in the truck, cleared cache and storage and uninstalled the app. Removed all Rivian Bluetooth devices on the phone. Turned on/off Bluetooth on truck and phone. Hard rebooted truck and phone.

Bluetooth audio works but adding a key just says "the last step is waiting for you on your phone" and the phone says "tap setup now" (which I did).

I am at a loss of what else to try.

Android 13 has been plagued by Bluetooth issues. For me the process of adding PaaK has always been a bit troublesome. One time I got it to work by letting the app wait in its loop and going to the bluetooth menu and manually pairing with "Rivian 6" (I think that was the name of the device on the older truck versions). It's currently called "Rivian Phone Key". Anyway, after manually pairing the app/truck continued their pairing process process.

Remove the non-Rivian Bluetooth devices (AirPods, etc. ) from your phone, re-pair phone with Rivian, and then add your other BT devices back to your phone after confirming PAAK works.

This worked for me.

I re-paired after deleting the app, and it worked great for a day. Now I'm just going to carry the key until Android 13 is fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Rivian Phone Key was one of the Bluetooth devices I deleted, but could not see it in a scan anymore. After deleting all 20+ saved devices I could see the Rivian Phone Key device.

But still wasn't able to setup PaaK or manually pair with it.

Okay, may be coincidence after an hour of trying to add PaaK, after I turned off bluetooth, wifi, and hotspot in the truck the PaaK setup worked immediately.

If it works for others it would be good to know.

I am going to leave truck wifi and bluetooth off for now.

I even have this problem on Android 11 with my Pixel 2XL that is still going strong.

Can't repair after my guide told me to delete my phone key as it wasn't allowing for active key usage to get me out of park and into a "gear" for driving my truck.

Really annoying, though there was always a valid reason that I would always bring the key fob along for the ride regardless of the app/phone key working or not.
