I'll change my vote from yes, to a maybe. The wind noise issue has me at the end of my rope. Truck is amazing until about 70 mph. The wind noise from 75 mph up wants to pray at times that an asteroid hits my truck when it is parked and I am nowhere near it.

The quality control regarding putting the glass and roof in makes Tesla look like QC pros. I don't think there is a piece of glass that was put in correctly on my truck. I spent 5 hours going through and trying to plug all the uneven seams yesterday to deal with the GD wind noise.

The alignment looks like they were drunk when they did this. I shouldn't have to do this. All is amazing at 70 mph of airspeed. Once you hit 75 it is incredibly annoying and I am tired of cranking up the radio to mask it. The work I put in helped, but I am just so pissed about having to do it and I am still not sure yet if it is low enough I can live with it, now that I am keenly aware of it. Even the Cyberdumpster was better than my truck stock.
My 2022 R1T Quad wind noise was like that for 2.5 years of ownership. I totally solved it by trading in for the 2025 R1T Tri Max.

So this wind noise is spotty? Becuase I've owned two R1T's now and never had wind noise issue - well I take that back, my small triangle window was leaking initially and they fixed the seal and never had an issue again.

As with most quality observations, I'll note that this is all going to vary case by case. I have a LE Quad (VIN in the low 4000s) and have no problems with glass fitment or road noise. It's leagues better than our Tesla (2020 Y) and every Tesla owner I've driven with has remarked on how much better the QC/fit and finish are in my truck.

Outside of some sporadic issues with the drivetrain "tock" I've had literally no functional issues in 52k miles, including my OG tonneau cover which was still going strong when they replaced it.

Not only would I buy one again (at the time/price), if I could go back in time I'd add a Max Pack and R1S, too 😅. $70k was a steal for this thing, especially at 2.4%, especially if I knew then what I know now...

(By the same token, I would not, however, have gone all-in on the IPO...)

Rivian *NEVER* said Gen 1 would have Tesla FSD-level self-driving. If "Rivian folks in the know" told you, they were wrong. Rivian's statements have always been that they are "working toward a self-driving vehicle" (until they removed even that claim with the launch of the Gen 2. Presumably the claimed Gen 2 capability is all they'll ever do.)

In 2018, RJ said R1 was due to launch in 2020, but self-driving was "10-15 years away." That makes it clear that he had no expectation that first-gen vehicles would get self-driving. And as we know, there have been Delays.
Semantics beweent "FSD" and L3.

We're going to ignore the emails, marketing material, and website, that clearly advertised level 3 autonomy are we? There's also RJ interviews of him saying the gen1 would be 100% compatible and blablabal.

Why do people absolutely refuse to acknowledge this happened? Because you like Rivian? Because you're a shareholder?

There are thread after thread on this forum and Reddit about this very topic.

Definitely not at the post-price-hike cost. There, I said it.

I'm glad they honored the price, but the rug pull of quad motor and nerfed max pack is still in the back of my mind.

Give us CarPlay, less wind noise/quieter cabin, mechanical diff lockers on R3X… and I’ll be a repeat customer.

Yes, for sure and I will even take the R2 especially if they have some really nice end of the quarter deals or Demo vehicles like we do with R1.

I love my R1 for myself, I like the power, torque vectoring, space, OTA, air suspension, underbody shield with 34" tires, flashlight / power bank, Home battery for emergency use and a ton of other reasons

Just a followup on my previous message, about my reasons for answering no.

So I finally met with @RivianNE, yesterday.

My R1T (2024 first gen) is currently on winter tires. So I have 20in wheels, with 275/60R20 winter tires. Tire pressure was somewhat low (47psi after 30min drive). Ambient temp was around 10C (50F). In other words my tires were as soft as could be in this setup.

RivianNE's R1T is a first gen also (2022), quad motor on the AT wheels/tires. Tire pressure around 48-49psi during our test.

We both drove each other's R1T. And although the difference was not enormous it was noticeable, with my R1T being just a bit stiffer.

I'll definitely inquire on my next service appointment about this.

I think this poll should be closed and this thread stickied. With 732 responses and an almost 90% “would by again” rate it’s clear that the overwhelming majority of Rivian owners are satisfied with their vehicles.

This thread can help keep an honest perspective when so many of the posts here skew negative

I'd absolutely purchase again at the $67K after tax credit price for my Launch R1T ...would I pay $100K? Nope.

Sadly the initial pricing is lone gone and was an amazing deal. While I like my truck, it is harder to see the value when something comparable is over 100k now. I just priced out a Tri Max spec'd how I'd like it and I'd be at almost 110k before taxes and fees.

The value has definitely diminished at that price point. I think that is more than what the market is willing to pay and we'll probably continue to see incentives to help move the trucks. If Tesla continues to have trouble moving the CT, I think that could also impact Rivian at least with the R1T.

While Tesla has some issues to deal with, price a CT low enough, and I think a lot of people won't care. That could potentially siphon off sales from Rivian when a CT gets cheap enough. Not sure if the new RWD CT will be a big seller, but the AWD and Cyberbeast are direct competitors to the R1T.

With the current market conditions, I think people might be even more price sensitive. I like a lot of things about my truck. If something were to happen to it, I'd carefully look at the market before buying another one.
