Had my guide contact me this morning, said I could get my truck by the end of the month if I switched from OC to BM interior, he said they do not know when OC interior will go into production. Decisions, decisions.....

Yeah, this is great news! Now I can start obsessing about the fact that no CY people have been contacted. Why do I make these choices ?

Lots of contacts yes, but all reports are they are only giving the options to switch to BM or wait an indefinite amount of time. Hardly any resolution to the issue but better than skipping over people with delayed configurations.

Hmmm, ok yes. I would have thought they were reaching out to OC customers though because production is coming s00n. Although your guide said you could get BM "this month" doesn't mean you couldn't get OC in April. I'm not trying to state that's what is actually true, only that from your words it seems like your guide is just saying you could get BM sooner?? Did your guide actually say how long the OC wait would be?

I can't imagine why they would reach out to all these OC customers, just to ask them to take BM instead unless they also start reaching out to FE customers to do the same. It makes no sense to only reach out to one group and not the other to offer a switch. Ummm, unless... FE is actually coming very SOON and there is no need for that group to delay!! OK, that's just my wishful thinking kicking in :fingerscrossed:

Posted this in the April-May hype thread, but it's relevant here as well.

Emailed my Guide this morning to ask about old pricing for potential changes. He said they do not have a pricing sheet available yet. He also included this tidbit:

"One of the reasons I'm reaching out to you is that your delivery window is for April - May and we are set to meet that or exceed that. We want you to have the vehicle you want but keep in mind any changes will have an impact on your delivery timing."

Sounds like Ocean Coast is not entirely delayed, just on-hold for BM batching.

Had my guide call today and unfortunately it went as I feared it would. I can get my truck ASAP if I go with BM. He literally couldn’t give my ANY kind of timeline for OC. Super disappointing. Asked him how we, as customers, are supposed to make decisions when there is NO info! Really ridiculous. He kept saying he wants me to get the truck I want and not have to settle. I said, yeah me too but I’m not willing to gamble that my interior preference is 6 months or more away! He also kept saying they’ll be pushing out OC as they ramp up in the coming weeks and months, which literally tells us nothing. I almost feel like it’s a scam to get people into a less expensive interior. Told him I’d have to think about it but most likely I’ll get the BM because I am sick of waiting.

I got exactly the same feedback this morning as well.

It seems they are playing a bit of a matching game as someone (?) just mentioned. As they add in OC and FE interiors the number of permutations of color combos doubles and triples meaning batches must be much more aligned with orders. I think this is one of the two main reasons we are seeing guide contacts vary by up to 2 years in preorder date (proximity t service center being the other. So it seams that as the current "batch" of unassigned BM interiors get assigned it will affect your delivery date less, or not at all but until that time I believe @Riviot is correct that switching to BM will get your LE R1T sooner IF you are within proximity of a service center. For what it's worth this situation is likely to play out as other configurations enter production as well unless/ until Rivian better aligns orders to production. the best way to do this is guide contact and lock peoples configuration early. By July when/ if non LE start production I could foresee configuration choices altering delivery dates by 6 months or more. This is why Tesla, Ford and others limit configurations to very few when faced with this situation. Hell Teslas' still only come in 3 colors!

I've waffled back and forth between OC and BM. I Chatted with CS today regarding this interior color issue and got the typical scripted answers...except that he then added the following which was somewhat interesting:

We haven't shared details surrounding any type of delay for the OC or FE. If there was any change, we would've communicated that to our community members. If the BM is your preferred option, then perhaps that's the best our route to take?
The reason you are taking delivery within this March - April delivery window is that you configured an R1 that includes the BM interior.

That's as close as anyone has come to confirming to me that delivery time frames were originally dictated by interior color choice.

Analysis of the LE delivery windows indicated they were ordered by interior color.

Spoke with my guide yesterday and he also told me that switching to BM would get me my R1T quickly. At first he had no info on OC availability but he said he'd try to get more info. I spoke with him again later in the day, after my test drive, and he told me that he was told if I stuck with OC I'd still be in the target delivery of March/April. I read this that there is no delay, just prioritizing BM in production currently. I also speculate that these calls trying to get folks to switch might indicate that they'll be "forced" to switch to making OC sooner rather than later.

Switched my config to el cap, BM today. Not sure I will keep it, but hoping it gets me a guide contact sooner so I can discuss my CY/OC options.

Or they'll swap to OC production and you'll get your guide later.

It's one thing to switch to BM if your guide is specifically saying you'll get it sooner, switching when you don't even have a guide yet and want OC is silly.
