Pre Order price vs Now

I heard those who ordered R1S earlier before 2020 or 2021 the price is cheaper than now for large or max battery. Can you please advice how much is the difference for the dual motor large or max battery R1S price before vs now?

Why does it matter, you can never get that price. No sense worrying about it.

i think the max is 7k for pre price hike though and large is free. Dual might actually cost almost the same for them or slightly less. They really want to move quad setups for pre price hike holders

Depends on the options. Our R1S was $77,500 and the same car ordered now is $94,500.

Most of the base configs and options had different prices. Here is what was available to me at the time I confirmed in August 2023:

R1S Adventure Package w/Large Battery and Dual Performance AWD motors in Glacier White or LA Silver: $75,000
- Quad Motor AWD upgrade: +$500
- Color upgrades +$1,500 except Compass Yellow and Rivian Blue +$1,750
- Interior: Mountain Black and Ocean Coast included, Forest Edge +$2,000
- Gear: Cargo Crossbars $450, Wall Charger $500

I don't remember other prices like the recovery kit or underbody shield, as I never had those in my config and didn't pay attention to them. My R1S list price + gear was $78,100. The same vehicle configured today lists for $96,025. I never had the max pack battery or Dual Motor AWD options available to me. I placed my reservation in September 2021.

Rivian maintaining the reservation pricing was one of the most impressive business decisions I have seen. I remember the outrage when in hit - RIvian Stories doing a session where they cancelled their pre-order - and I would have cancelled if they hadn't pivoted.

I bought a T and an S on old pricing, and I agree Rivian did all of us preorder holders a solid. The T was about 81k with 20”, underbody, and charger. S was 79400 with no underbody or charger, 20’s and FE interior.

Love both of them, they are our daily drivers. If I were to do it again, I would pay new price but wait to see what is in 2024 refresh. I find the value even in current prices IMO

Base price was $71,500 for the R1T large pack without powered tonneau.

The manual tonneau was an $800 add on and other colors were $1,500 when I ordered. I think Rivian blue might have been $2,500 though, can’t recall for sure. All interior colors were the same price. Powered was $1,800 and spare tire was $875 but was subsequently removed from most orders by Rivian.

It was a fantastic deal, but many people had QC issues that have been largely resolved by now. Extremely happy with the purchase.

That is not something you will have to worry about.

The difference is around $15k.
This applies only to Quad Motors.

It was a fantastic deal, but many people had QC issues that have been largely resolved by now. Extremely happy with the purchase.

Agree all around. It's hard to rewind the clock in my head but recognize that I waited more than 4 years for my vehicle, "locked" my configuration without having ever seen an R1S, and took delivery without having ever driven one. And the first R1S's were indeed rushed and required additional resolution at the DCs and THAT was its own work-in-progress (still is).

There was another "advantage" of being a pre-order holder - we were "invited" to participate in the IPO. I think we all know how THAT went. And there were all the things that were supposed to be available at launch - I'm looking at you removable roof - that fell by the wayside.

It's been a great journey and one I am happy that I signed up for, but it's not the same journey as showing up today and saying "I want that".
