I’ve nothing but crickets after cancelling on March 1. Is there anyone out there who cancelled and received an update to reinstate their preorder?

Yeah I gave that a try yesterday at 5:00 Eastern Time and it’s a bit premature to expect a response since the Thursday announcement. Just wondering if there are posts that this is really happening. Since Rivian is now post IPO my second concern is RJ’s future as CEO after this debacle. Can/would the Board of Directors supersede his decision and discharge him of his position as CEO?

And then just give it time. It's going to take them a bit to get the orders back up and the prices corrected. Customer support is still at 30 to 45 minute wait times on chat.

Several people have said they called and it was very simple for them to reinstate the cancellation. Did not even request a new deposit.

Only going by what was reported, I never canceled so no first hand knowledge.

I'd say there's close to zero chance in that. If anything I would expect them to force people out below him.

That being said, it has crossed my mind to bring in someone like Eric Schmidt to help him out initially.

"what do I need to do"
"Just let me know if you want to, and we'll do it on the back end"
"Ok. Please do"

and then we shot the shit over colors.

I just did the online chat and they reinstated it. It could take a few days to show up in the account though

FWIW I went on chat - only took about 5 min - and they said they were able to get it reinstated. Did not ask for a new deposit. Account not updated yet, but they said it was done.

I was told mine was reinstated but when trying to configure my R1S it still shows me needing to make a deposit and the increased prices. Just waiting for it to revert back hopefully

I e-mailed Rivian to reinstate my cancelled R1T Explore on Thursday. I should hear something early next week.

there are various posts from people mentioning having their preorders reinstated. Notably, they’re not requiring another deposit. Probably because it’s a logistical pain after already doing a refund.


You think the board of a company of this size had nothing to do with the decision to revise pricing they way rivian did?

CEOs do not act unilaterally.

You make a valid point. This is why we have a forum. Keeps everyone in “check”. The rescind from RJ was fairly swift. I was doubting a “Board” would have responded that swiftly. And, having RJ step down or removed from Rivian would kill the company. I personally have heard “0“ from Rivian after cancelling my R1S the evening of March 1. I would rather have “RJ the human” rather than “Elon the arrogant“ delivering my vehicle. I digress. Thanks for the feedback.

I had a different experience. Canceled March 1. Did the chat March 3 to ask about reinstating, they asked me to confirm my email, and said they'd "add me to the list" to reinstate. They never said explicitly that my order was reinstated, so I'll just be waiting.
