When I got in my car last night the display showed my headlights strobing (see video) and at first I thought, "this isn't safe to drive" but then I noticed that my van wasn't reflecting the strobing lights, so I got out to look and sure enough they were steady and normal. I can imagine how the avatar image of the truck might display a phantom light strobe, but wtf is up with the front facing camera showing something that is not there? I'm not sweating this issue because it didn't really affect me, but I'm curious if anyone can think of an explanation.

Completely normal. Its just how LED Headlights, or any LED, works. Its also the way the camera picks it up. Mine does this also, and my fleet of 74 Volvo Trucks.

Ah, got it - an interference pattern between the flicker frequency of the LEDs and the frame rate of the camera. That makes sense. I just hadn't ever seen it before in previous night drives. It was fun that the frequency almost matched the music. Thanks for the response.

It also has to do with the kind of shutter involved for the camera (global vs rolling).

Is this a Gen2? A lot of people aren't aware that in the quest for reduced costs, Rivian changed their retroencabulators from Rockwell Automation to something cheap from China. Without the patented maleable logarithmic casing, it can no longer prevent side fumbling or ambiphaseant desynchronization. The danger here that nobody is talking about is that obviously the light is now re-synchronizing your eyes' connection to time, and every flash puts your body a few milliseconds farther into the future. Eventually, you will be a few seconds older than everyone else. I think I smell a class action lawsuit.

Don't forget about the flux capacitor.
