Question - are you using Alexa?

Use it quite a bit here. Two major uses, in car and out.

In car

• Open frunk
• When is the hokies or commanders game on?
• Play a playlist on Amazon music
• Turn on the third row fan or set to speed
• Navigation to a specific address or landmark/destination

For out of car we use it to interact with the smart things in our home

• Tonight I had her preheat our smart oven on my way home with pizza so it would be ready to stick in there
• We use it all the time to have her lock the front door when we are rolling out our street and realized that nobody in the family locked it
• Similar to the lock when we are rolling out the street we will use it to turn off the kids room lights front office lights etc that were left on in the house that we noticed pulling out of the driveway

And didn't work very well at all when we first got the R1S in March but one of the updates shortly after that were they cited it was improving really did improve it and it responds very well now. I should expand the things I try with it. I find in the car the best things are those that would be multiple menus to get to. Right now I'm thinking tomorrow I should try out turning on and off the in cabin lights. For things that are one press like temperature and volume it doesn't seem very useful.

I use it all the time for changing music. Navigation through music choices while driving just isn’t safe.

It’s also the best/only way to access Pandora and Audible which I use sometimes.

I’ve occasionally used it for Nav, but frequently just type an address in.

Calling up NPR news and I have an automation to turn on the cameras using GPS near my house.

Are you able to auto-switch to cam mode on main screen every time you get close to your Garage/home? I would love to copy your automation if you don't mind sharing pls

I would say Alexa in car is a game changer for me and my kiddos...we use it all the time for everything related to vehicle commands - controls, nav, music, podcasts etc and kiddos to play games, trivia, jokes, general inquiries about anything/everything I never imagined we would use the in-car Alexa voice sooo much on our daily commutes!

The only time I use it is when I tell her “cancel” because she thinks she heard her name but I never actually said it.

We have started using Alexa in Opal (our R1T). We still have a lot to learn, but are determined to master it.

Besides the hood/lift gate I often use Alexa to turn off the interior lights that the kids/dogs turn on. Quicker and easier than going through the UI.
I really want to figure out a command that lets me open the garage door by telling Alexa to open the pod bay door!

For some reason I never set it up, plan to test at some point just Haven’t got around to it.

it seems to work when you tell it to map a trip for you...well as good as it can with the weak mapping software Rivian uses...

I use it for the climate controls. I’m a dinosaur and don’t like them being in the touch screen, but the voice commands usually work well enough. Trying to drive while navigating though screens and touching the wrong buttons is not only frustrating, but dangerous.

Same here. How do you even do automation - in the car?

I use Alexa mostly as a DJ. I occasionally use the phone calling or ask random questions features but I find it mostly helpful and happy to have it especially in a vehicle with a touch screen.
