R1 refresh prototypes spotted with new hardware?

They need to make that wrap available to the public. Am sure a few people would buy it. Almost reminds me of these artist-wrapped computers that were released back in the '80s. And people bought those, haha. ?

Okay, gotta ask... why try to "hide" under wraps at this point?

No one could possibly mistake the metal under the wrap for anything other than a Rivian vehicle. I think they'd do better just running one in regular paint as no one would take notice vs. the "oh wow.. look at that Rivian with the crazy wrap".

I dunno but maybe the wrap is distracting from subtle changes that they're trying to hide (i.e. if they only put wrap on the headlights/lightbar we would know that these are being changed).

Mine is a September '23 build and has a trapezoid cutout for the camera and a round cutout for the rain sensor. Edit: there is a smaller trapezoidal cutout to the left and the rain sensor is directly above the larger trapezoid on the right.

If yours is a more recent build they may have slipped new hardware in already without people noticing. Can you take a close up photo so we can see what's behind the cutouts?

It could just be a beefed up rain sensor under the bigger cutout on the left or something else that's completely unrelated to ADAS.

Most likely these are R2 test mules considering the minor sensor differences.

I vaguely recall a statement that some of the updates to the R1 architecture are common across the R1 and R2 platform. I wouldn’t assume the testing is unique to either.
