R1S Charge Port Door Not Closing Flush

We took delivery of an R1S a few weeks ago and are quite happy, aside from a few rattles and an issue with a software update.

Today, when leaving a charger, the charge port door wouldn't close. I drove it about 100 feet, stopped and got it to close but it won't get to flush. Drove the hour home and tried once again. It opens and closes, but in the "closed" position it doesn't retract to the flush position.

Any ideas on a fix without waiting two months for a service appointment?

How bad is it? Mine had some alignment problems. I was surprised to find out that the service center fixed it by removing the door skin and re-gluing it. I guess I imagined some sort of mechanical adjustment.

Don't mess with it call service. I didn't have your problem but the door closed and for whatever reason thought it wasn't and the motor just kept pulling, drained the 12V and had to have it towed.

If it closes but isn't flush, not nice looking but should have zero impact, if it doesn't close that is a different case. Either wya service is there to help.

Similar to how mine looked. The mobile tech had to replace a gasket on the open/close mechanism. Has been fine ever since.

Mine was fixed at the local Rivian service center. The following is the note from the service center.

Cause:
- Found charge port door sleeve damage as well as retainer. Replaced with new sleeve and
retainer and verify it closes flush with facia

Service fixed this for me, there was a piece that come loose/detached. Just open a ticket with them and they should be able to sort it out
