Anyone else having issues with their brand new R1S and Level 3 charging? We got our a month ago and its been extremely frustrating to have to Level 2 charge in random places all the time, sometimes leaving the vehicle on random streets to charge overnight (our building chargers have not yet been installed). We've done the reboot of Level 3 chargers and vehicle with Service team remotely, including trying every Level 3 charger in our area, no fix.

Rivian has been extremely slow to get us in for servicing (have to wait until end of year), really disappointing, especially since we use the car for our business and average more than 50 miles/day.

I read about an R1T having issues and it turned out to be faulty module, I don't know why they can't just send support with a new module and see if that fixes the issue because what will likely happen is we will drop off vehicle for servicing end of month and they will take a week or more to diagnose.

This is such a huge issue for us right now and Rivian is not helping, I'd love to hear some thoughts on what we should do to press them to make this a more urgent matter.

Had the same issue on my R1T. It’s probably, indeed, a faulty Central Gateway Module.

I waited about a month from early-October to early-November 2022 to get an appointment with service to address this and some other issues. Pretty sure wait times will vary by region over time.

As far as expediting, I have no idea. I will say now I’m able to text my local service advisor but I didn’t get his contact info until my initial appointment. Maybe just call the regular service number and ask for an expedited appointment citing the difficulty you’re having with daily use without Level 3 DCFC capabilities and current lack of home L2 charging? Be nice and follow up. Tell them you need full functionality to meet your daily commuting needs.

That said when I discovered my faulty L3 charging I truthfully said I had a road trip planned that weekend and needed L3 capability. Rep said she’d try to expedite but I don’t think it made any difference.

For what it’s worth, the fix was quick. Pretty sure service is familiar with this problem.

It definitely sucks but it will be fixed

Yes I think its the same issue here, the module. I have a technician coming out early next week to reset seat memory error, I wonder if they can just bring a Module with them, I will give RIvian a call. Thanks for the heads up

This is a good reminder to go tomorrow and test out a DC fast charger to make sure everything is good before I forget about it and wind up not being able to make a road trip or something

I had the same problem. VIN 13XXX. Got actually stranded in MA and had to limp my way to Brooklyn SC using L2 charging, took about 7+ hours and the entire road trip was ruined. Faulty module as others have stated, will take 12 hours to replace by a dedicated engineer (comments from SC). Overall, it will be a 2 week repair if you count the diagnostic that took couple days, parts, and installation. I will be forever paranoid using DC charging.

The good thing is that L2 and CCS charging Are independent so when one breaks you are not completely stranded. When not on a road trip, you could survive easily on either one.

Well I’m sure there are existing service requests they are trying to complete, so some of it is SC depended? I got my truck to SC 12/11, expected completion is end of next week.
