Has anyone had an experience where there is no change in the feel of the suspension between stiff, standard, and soft ride modes? I took delivery of a Gen 2 R1S one week ago. I love the vehicle but one disappointment has been the ride stiffness. I have been playing around with the ride modes between the three settings around town and have a road by my work with small, medium and large bumps and road variations. I realize this is largely subjective, but I literally cannot detect any difference between the "stiff" and "soft" settings. All of the ride modes seem very stiff and cause the dash to rattle even over the smallest bumps.

I am curious if anyone has had a similar issue. Is this something a software reboot might reset/fix? I have a service appointment scheduled for later in the month, but I am hoping there might be an easy remedy.

I have not but someone did report that on another thread. They did a hard reset and it resolved the issue for them.

Hold down the hazard button and the far left steering wheel button at the same time until the screens turn off. This will do a full hard reset on the truck and see if there's any difference.

Tires are new. I have the 22 inch sport wheels which I know are a firmer ride, but the vehicle is very stiff in all modes. I performed the hard reset. Same result. There is no discernable difference between ride modes.

Get service to fix the dash speaker rattle as well. Mine buzzed constantly unrelated to anything else and they secured it.

What is your ride height?

I have my R1S 22" set to low on moderate. I used to have it on firm prior to the last update as moderate was too soft. My wife gets motion sickness from the vehicle bobbing up and down on soft.

There is a difference between all of them but it can be subtle. It is more noticeable in standard height than in low or lowest.

As for the ride being stiff, well, it's a heavy truck so it rides and drives like a truck. Definitely not like a unibody SUV.

I have the ride height set to auto so it is usually at low height on the highway and mid height on side streets. I will try different ride heights and see if I can notice a difference.

The difference between the 3 All Purpose ride quality settings may be quite subtle for some. Put it in Sport/Stiff/Low and see if you notice a difference. Then try Sport/Stiff/Lowest. If you don't feel a difference moving from All Purpose to Sport Low and then again to Lowest, then there is likely a problem with the vehicle. If you notice a difference between All Purpose and Sport, then the 3 settings within All Purpose may just be too subtle for you to notice.

I've often wondered if that's the case in our R1S...We keep it in AP Soft but it hits bumps and manhole covers and feels like I'm in a 4-Runner!

Anyone have suggestions for testing the different ride modes? We've got a road near us with very noticeable manhole covers that you have to drive around to avoid hitting. Any other thoughts?

We have a Gen 1 and it's fine on most roads but the ones in Seattle with old expansion joints really result in an unpleasantly rough ride even in "soft" mode. We're just visiting but if Ilived there, I'd be tempted to switch cars.

Interesting thread... I was just messing with these settings recently to see the difference, but also didn't notice any difference in settings. I am curious to see more on this thread as others comment. I will have to try the different drive modes as well.

I used to have a glorious difference in my ride modes until 2-3 weeks ago. (All purpose, standard height.) The recent update made it even nicer, and I left it in soft most of the time. But suddenly starting about 3 weeks ago, no difference in soft, moderate, or stiff.

Infotainment or full resets don’t fix it. Hoping service is able to figure it out.

Also: If it’s really quiet I can hear a very faint mechanical click for firm and moderate. Nothing audible for soft though… does anyone with a working soft here a click when soft is engaged?

I find that the settings mostly affect rebound and compression but the harshness over bumps I largely attribute to the tires. Those 22s are not great. My Audi with lower profile Michellins is better over harsh bumps and was even better when I had the softer Pilot S4S instead of the current Pilot AS. I don't think any amount of damper adjustment is going to fix those Pirellis. People with the offroad 20s seem to enjoy the ride and many who have replaced tires saw ride improvement. Hopefully some will chime in with experience.
