I can't watch your video but mine doesn't open on a downhill decline on our driveway. The gate pops open and then shuts again. I think the issue is due to something being misadjusted on how tightly it closes. Even on level ground, it "pops" slightly open before the motor starts lifting it. So when it's on a downhill grade, it "pops" slightly open, and then the weight of the liftgate closes it again before the motors can start lifting it. I think it needs to be adjusted so it doesn't pop open like that when it's unlatched. Either that or they need to coordinate the motors to start lifting a fraction of a second earlier. I should take a video and put in a service ticket.

The problem is I hate dealing with service. I don't want to have a shitty loaner for 2 weeks while they figure out that they can't fix it.

Yes. The same thing happens to me in the video pop's open about 2 in then closes. You should submit a request to get this fixed. The adjusted mine, but it did not fix it. Please read original post for technicians comments

Yeah I have a mobile appointment in January so hopefully they can look at it then. But I am worried that (a) they will try to adjust it and cause other issues, and (b) ask me to take it to the SC which I don't really want to do.

What is the slope of the driveway? I have a driveway at 6 degrees, my lift gate opens and closes on it fine forwards and backwards.

Just in case it is temp related, currently tested at 67 degrees Fahrenheit

I also have to that issue on my sloped driveway. Tried the button at the liftgate, via the app, and via the entertainment screen. Got my R1S in September, took it to the Brooklyn service center October for that issue and they said that they raised the back and could not replicate the issue. I took the car back without the issue being resolved. It still occurs. I get a message on my phone indicating obstruction detected, but tgere is no obstruction.

Perhaps this is another similar issue. I have the car set to go i to Kneel mode when i park. Kneel mode doesn’t work at the same incline. It works fine on level ground.

They tried to return it to me as well,fixed, but I used their driveway entrance and backed it up onto the slope and lo and behold they saw it and took it back in for service.
Tried to fix it, but they couldn't after an hour, so they said to submit more data.

I had the lift gate issue, the brackets were replaced today, apparently you can’t pass your finger behind the knuckle/ moving arm at the bracket or it does not have leverage to open the rear lift gate on r1s…

Mine does this all the time, at times at an incline that is barely recognizable.
Been to service twice, said the tailgate is heavy and struggles to open on even the slightest on inclines.

This happens to me maybe every 10th to 15th time I open it, but slope is not a factor. Mine doesn't close itself, rather, it just pops open a few inches then stops, at which point I get the obstacle detected notice on the app. They couldn't resolve the first time in service, is currently in for service trying to figure it out again. Had a tech take a quick look this time and he noticed, due to the PPF being worn, that one of the corners of the liftgate by the hinge is actually rubbing against the chassis. Those with the issue and PPF may want to check and see if they are seeing the same. The tech is going to try and readjust the hinge and advise.

Vehicle is in service and with the holidays they won't even get to it until January. The SC was so packed with vehicles they had people parking on the street. Not the best look for those showing up for delivery appointments.
