I just applied rainx yesterday and took out our R1S out in rain(not heavy rain). The wipers are now stuttering and chartering. Has anyone experienced this?

Auto wipers turn on and off okay, it's just that they stutter and charter a lot when on.

It's very similar to the issue on Teslas here:

I was told by another owner that the Rivian Owners Manual states to not use products like Rain-X.

Oh I don't see it anywhere? Where did they include this?

I needed to use it as the wipers weren't cleaning well to begin with :(

It makes sense for rain detection.
For me, detection is working as expected.
The wipers just stutter when cleaning on low wiper speeds.

I used Rain-x on my previous vehicle.. resulted in the same chatter until it wore off. I wouldn't re-apply.

Just a FYI, On one of my previous vehicles I often used Rain-X. At some point I got a small rock chip in the front windshield, it wasn't big enough to warrant changing the glass, but was in my line of sight and couldn't un-see it. Had a glass guy come out and usually they can inject a clear (epoxy?) into the crack and make it nearly invisible. Well, he said because of the Rain-X seeping into the crack he couldn't get his repair to work. The Rain-X prevented the liquid repair agent from bonding to the glass. Long story short I stopped using any products on the windshield.

this has been my rain-x experience on any vehicle going back to when it first was even a thing. It's a terrible product, never worth using.

Rian-X would be a good name for a DJ.

I've been using Rain-X since the 80's on every vehicle I've owned until recently, when I changed to ceramic based water repellant.

The wiper chatter is there, if you use the wipers when Rain-X is still active.

I don't use auto wiper setting on any vehicle and for that matter, I don't use wipers because of repellant. Cannot recall the last time I used the wiper in the rain. The only time I use it is either when the windshield is covered in debris (just to clear the debris) or in rental cars.

Both Tesla and Rivian says not to use these type of products - its my vehicle and I use it without any issues.

I’ve always had problems with Rain-X, too. If you don’t keep reapplying it, it degrades to a point where it just starts to smear all over the glass, seriously impacting visibility. The only way I was able to get it off the windshield was to use a micro-abrasive glass polish. Never again. I was reassured when I read the warning not to do it in the Rivian manual.
