I use right-angle usb-c cables on the rear display. Seems to be enough protection against being destroyed by the occupants, since they don't stick out appreciably.

Greetings,

The ridiculous few type c ports (2) inside the center console are not enough considering the dash cam storage requires one of them. When my wife and take a drive it would be nice to not have to ro-sham-bo over who gets their phone charged. Has anyone found any port splitters that allow for charging on both ports that work w/the Rivian?

I tried a Belkin F7U081 from BestBuy w/zero joy. It looks like it should work but doesn't.

I'd like to avoid the 12V outlet under the dash; hence the specificity of the type c center console ports.

To get additional usb-c I also purchased a usb to usb-c dongle. This way I can use dash cam and charge mine and my wife’s devices.

I don’t see a lot of battery packs that would have enough ports, this is the only one I could find and it’s $169. It also has passthrough charging which is probably a feature you’d need. https://www.hypershop.com/products/hyperjuice-245w-usb-c-battery-pack

They don't have to have "all USB-C out", if all you want is basic charging, a $20 Amazon special with one USB-C "in to the power bank" port plus two USB-A, and be a neanderthal and use a USB-A to USB-C/Lightning/whatever-is-appropriate-for-your-phone cord would work fine.

Heck, I have an ancient power bank that the charging port on it is micro-USB, that would even work fine with a USB-C-to-micro-USB cord to charge *IT* from the vehicle, then two USB-A-to-C/Lightning to charge the phones from its two USB-A ports.

yes there are more steps like replacing the charge pad - but this would add two more usb a OR c ports for you to use.

For $70 you get two extra ports, assuming you don't use the wireless charger. Seems like a decent deal to me.

You can also buy the (buck converter) adapter separately if you’re feeling cheap or own a 3d printer.

This really is the best option for OP it gives them exactly what they want.

This solves one phone, then the other C port is open. But we never use it anyway since it's too slow. I'm going to be removing the useless charging pads and take the high-current 12v from there to power more USB-C charging, such as my laptop.

FYI - Anker now makes an intelligent power splitting USB-C - ordering one now. Hoping I can run the camera HD and a phone cord off one and then have the other one open for miscellaneous use
