Hello, I hate that this is my first post on these forums, but…

Love my truck and I’ve had it now for just a few months. However, yesterday when putting it in drive, I noticed my parking assist proximity sensors were no longer working, as well as my tailgate open/shut indicator no longer functions. Has anybody else experienced this problem and if so, what was the fix?

Thanks

Ensure no junk or dirt is messing with the sensors, and take a peek at the wiring around the back of your ride for any obvious damage. It could be a loose connection or a wonky sensor.

That happened to me once. I did a soft reboot and they came back working just fine.

They are related. When your tailgate latches fail, it also takes out your proximity sensors. I have been through this cycle a couple of times now with the incredibly fragile plastic tailgate latch assemblies.

All right, so the very next day after posting this message my proximity sensor came back online and I no longer got the tailgate open message. I have no idea what took place. I’m just glad that it is back.

I tried the soft reboot that didn’t work. I tried clearing the sensors of debris that didn’t work. I just got in the truck they weren’t functioning. I went up to Starbucks came back and they were functioning. …So clearly Starbucks is the answer.

The tailgate latch is known to be finicky—showing down when clearly closed—and usually in cold or hot conditions. Lubricate the latches with a dry lube. Shut with authority while taking care to not dent the sheet metal (i.e. palms, placed on the gate where there is structure, not just metal skin). Since the ultrasonic sensors didn't resolve after soft reset, contact Support.
