With this whole RAD adventure division thing, isn't there a possibility of a spicy tri-motor R2 that has some extra tricks? Not necessarily what we are talking about here with lockers, but maybe other useful add-ons?
The R2 Tri is most certainly going to be SPICY 🌶 !! Hopefully we see it in production sometime in '27 but most likely early '28.

understand lockers just fine.
To be clear, I wasn't arguing, I was building up what you said. Most people simply have zero use for them. When I was shopping for my first Rubicon Wrangler, nearly everyone who had one for sale had never used it them. Actually most didn't even know WTF it was. Which is a problem, because lack of usage can cause them to fail. I ended up buying new because I couldn't trust buying one that had never seen the transfer case and lockers activated at all.

I would pay for the option to have geared limited slip differentials. I had them installed front and rear with a gear change in the 4WD F150 and they made a world of difference over the stock open front and rear clutches. I have 120,000 miles on these units and they still perform like new. Nothing to engage. They just work.

I’ve consumed an unhealthy amount of information on R2, there was never any indication given of a locker.

Y'all clearly didn't see the R2 doing the loop at SXSW. It doesn't need locking differentials.

No Rivian has a locker... lol
That "article" is missing the point that the open diff's will use software to "virtually" lock wheel independently. I'm no off-roader but in all but possibly the most extreme situations, seems like this is a nothing burger.

demonstrated here:
Did he say the R1 has rear wheel steering????

Here's a secret most people don't know: Lockers aren't the best thing to have in all off-road situations. Far better is an eLSD that has the ability to fully lock. This is what all off-road vehicles should have over lockers.
