Chill. I never said this is a Rivian problem. And stations are fully aware of this and have long since given into this.
You chill too. I was just pointing out it isn't Rivian's problem to fix. Plus, there are other ways to get local weather and traffic. Rivian nav already show traffic. Across the different Rivian-related online platforms people keep complaining and point fingers at Rivian when solutions do exist and not necessarily even ones for Rivian to solve.

I actually kind of consider it a safety issue. Maybe just carry a portable AM/FM radio or something. In case either
A. You're outside of cell reception but still want weather/traffic data etc
B. Something goes wrong, cyberattack or something on internet infra
Probably in the <1% on this, but I do carry one of those "all-in-one" AM/FM/Shortwave/Weather radios", that can be charged normally or operated via hand-crank or solar panel to charge, and can also charge other devices (e.g., phones) from its built-in battery.

Keep it under the back seat next to my entrenching tool. I'll probably never need this kind of stuff, but you know the saying "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it". 😉

Yeah I'm surprised there's not an overlap here from the people who are worried about the rear doors not working after an accident.

what if you get into an accident and your radio doesn't work, and you can't hear the weather forecast about the flash floods that just started??

I mean, I am one of those people who doesn't like the hidden pull-handle cord thingamajigs to open the doors from inside. 🤷

Then I guess I will just die, LOL. You can come take care of all my cats. 😹😹

I have an emergency backpack in the frunk in the event I am away from home and a disaster (i.e. earthquake) makes the roads impassible due to collapsed overpasses. My HOA gave these away a few years back and when they didn't have everyone come get one, the guy distributing them told me to take as many as I wanted. I took one for every car and for the house. This way I can at least walk back home (or to safety) as long as I'm not too far away. This is definitely a possibility in California. I have emergency food, water, blanket, matches and a crank radio. I'm not a prepper, but better to be safe than sorry.

I should get one for when the zombie apocalypse hits. I have solar + power walls and when we had an outage a month ago, my house was the only one lit up at night that I could see on my block. If there's a real disaster (i.e. earthquake), I can see my neighbors coming with torches and pitchforks to get my "free" power!!!

You joke, but I have seen a LOT of discussions out there in the suburban, expedition, and other SUV and truck forums about what size pistol safe will fit in all the consoles of the vehicles. Generally speaking, it seems to be more of a mid-west to western U.S. thing (I understand I'm stereotyping here). You even see some videos talking about getting several hours into their road trips and forgetting their firearm and having to turn back around to get it because they aren't going to "chance protecting their family".... people live in such fear...

I keep a small go bag in my commuting vehicle because I commute to DC on occassion and there have actually been instances where you might wind up having to walk home to Virginia because of epic weather or terrorist event. Another classic example is the blackout in NY City years ago where people wound up having to walk across all the bridges. In all of those cases the most valuable things in the bags are outerwear, walking shoes, and water.

Yah I know. As gun owner, I see that sort of thing among gun forums all the time—the rampant paranoia and exaggeration is reason I don't frequent those any more. The irony is most of them live in low crime areas and think anywhere else is like lawless third-world countries where warlords wage war daily. So much for patriotism and pride right? Must've watched too many movies or spent too much time on a particular news channel. On the other hand, we've witnessed to just how fragile civility and order is. I'm just going to stop there before someone sensitive claim this is a political post.

Taking about streaming radio, can I add a custom URL to TuneIn or only select one of the stations that they offer? And if not, is BT streaming from the iPhone that much worse than CarPlay audio?

Don't know about R2 since only one person in this forum has identified themselves as having taken delivery. I don't stream from phone via Bluetooth in my gen 1 R1T. But from those who do, they say the sound quality is not as good as a native in-vehicle app, but serviceable. Maybe it's the same in R2. Maybe it's better. Who knows. One thing for sure, playback control on paired bluetooth stays at the phone. But you at least have control over volume on the car side.

There were some gear guard functions in my demo unit, but it seemed less than the R1 and I didn't really pay attention to it when I was clicking through everything.
I think one of the videos said the gear guard wasn't ready yet along with the cam mode and pet mode. Don't know why they're delayed though/
