So, how long is it typically before Rivian starts letting you configure things like battery/motors/colors for your reservation? A year or so out?
If they are targeting Q1 26 for delivery probably not until Oct/Nov 2025.

The spec R2 shown is going to be more than 45k.

Reading through the tea leaves...dual motor and 300mi range are upgrades from the base.
I would guess that the dual motor will be 52-53k and tri motor will be just under 60k

Before full $7.5K fed dealer tax rebate (if that still exists in 2026).

No HUD?

No customizable LED lighting?

I want more cool toys to entertain my kid brain.

Yeah I agree. Powered all the way, even if it’s a $500 option
Exactly. I will pay.

RJ - I will pay!!!

I don't understand why they would half ass it?! Who wants to power open their frunk but then have to manually close it? Putting finger prints, smudges and whatever else on the hood, potentially damaging it when you close it?

That better be a thicker hood than on R1!

WTF Rivian.

Torn between lack of rear wiper vs. operating rear window.

I agree. Was bummed when I saw RJ grab that strap and then push down with both hands to latch. That’s an early Model S frunk closing method.

I can’t say for sure but a 1 way power open doesn’t make any sense to me. I think this R2 prototype used powerful gas struts such that when unlatched, it opens on its own. If that’s the case, closing against such force takes some effort.

Hopefully fully powered frunk will be an option or standard on the top tri-motor trim? RJ mentioned they know how much R1 owners use the frunk. I get they have to cut costs, but these modules are pretty inexpensive themselves although I’m not sure how much extra wiring to make it happen would increase costs and/or manufacturing complexity.

On a trip I use the frunk but day to day I do not use it. Not sure I care if it is powered or not.

I use the frunk daily / multiple times a day. I love the powered frunk feature and would gladly pay for that.

I know my spouse would like that for the R2. She loves using the frunk regularly too.

I use the frunk on my R1t all the time. I drive my wife’s Y with some regularity and never use the frunk because the cargo powered but frunk isn’t. I imagine if I ever go with a R2, I’d probably just use the cargo area the most

We moved the charge port, but still in the wrong spot. They have time to fix that though.
Don't know why they put the NACS port on the RR.
Should be LR for better charger compatibility

I really like the sound of more rear legroom than the R1S

Don't really have a preference for powered over manual Frunk, but...
It 100% should be easy to open from the outside if your 12V battery dies without having to take half the front end apart to get to some manual release cable like in the R1 vehicles.
