The R2 2026.24 update expands Lane Change on Command beyond freeways, adds traffic lights, stop signs, and cones to the Autonomy view, and works through a long list of audio, climate, charging, and Gear Guard fixes.

Lane Change on Command Expansion
Lane Change on Command is now available on more roads, not just freeways. While Universal Hands-Free is engaged, check that the lane is clear, activate the turn signal, and let your vehicle handle the rest.

Autonomy View Enhancements
Traffic lights, stop signs, and traffic cones are now shown in the Autonomy view on the driver display, so you have a more complete visualization of traffic conditions.

Audio
  • New audio tuning with improved audio dynamics, tonal balance, and more immersiveness with Dolby Atmos content.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the audio volume to drop to zero after the vehicle went to sleep.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Bluetooth phone-call audio to sound muffled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused phone-call audio to play through the phone instead of the vehicle.
Climate
  • Improved the accuracy of the displayed cabin temperature in the Rivian mobile app and for Pet Comfort on the center display.
  • Enhanced sensor calibrations and updated algorithms to deliver greater cabin comfort.
  • Fixed an issue that caused insufficient cooling during very hot ambient temperatures.
  • Fixed a rare issue that affected the status lights for the heated rear seats.
Vehicle access
  • Improved passive unlocking responsiveness with digital keys when the vehicle wakes from sleep.
  • Improved the vehicle's ability to detect and load the driver profile associated with the phone key closest to the driver-side door when you enter.
Navigation
  • Added more fast-charging stations to maps and routes for your convenience.
  • Fixed an issue that caused route calculation to take longer than expected.
Charging
  • Fixed an issue that prevented you from ending a DC fast-charging session from the Energy screen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a brief charging fault with a Rivian wall charger.
  • Fixed an issue that caused an external power outlet fault during DC fast-charging.
Infotainment
  • Fixed an issue that caused the quick controls panel to show the media controls instead of the vehicle controls.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a connectivity panel to remain open after tapping outside it.
  • Fixed an issue that hid the seat-adjustment introduction screen.
Additional Improvements
  • Fixed issues that caused incorrect tire-pressure specifications and flat-tire notifications to appear on the center or driver display.
  • Improved overall connectivity robustness, including recovering after extended loss of cellular service.
  • Improved Gear Guard reliability and fixed an issue where Gear Guard camera settings could open the wrong screen or fail to save your preferences.
  • Fixed a rare issue that briefly triggered an incorrect turn signal fault notification.

Hopefully this fixes the gear guard ssd being unavailable.

Wonder why Rivian hasn't been able to do the Supercruise feature of Cadillac of not needing to manually lane change and just do it automatically. Maybe a trade off of supercruise only being available on major highways while the R2 does way more roads.

We might have to start specifying R2 vs R1T/R1S on threads like this...... unless Rivian lines up OTAs in the future.

(in other words, ya threw me off @Mos Eisley! How dare you confuse me!!)

As a frequent user of Super Cruise in my Optiq, I quickly disabled the automatic lane change feature. It would change into a lane that was ending, then immediately disengage and force me to manually merge back. It would do a lane change just before my exit, making me immediately and manually change back or I'd miss the exit. I'm much happier telling it when to change lanes, or just doing it myself.

I use it quite a bit when we take our Lyriq on trips.

.0x indicates a Gen 1 R1 release, or a release common to all models.
.3x indicates a Gen 2 R1 release.
.4x indicates an R2 release.

So 2026.24.41 is an R2 release, as noted on the website linked in the original post.
Good to know, thanks!

I actually enjoy driving my own vehicle and being the only one in control. I've gone 55 driving years without ever causing an accident or being involved in more than a low speed bumper contact. I know it's a generational thing. So more power to those who utilize every new tech mod that comes along. Not for me.
