Tried both SanDisk Extreme Pro 1Tb and now on Samsung T7.

Different cords with and without angled connection.
‘My R2 had this issue with an SSD I have but worked fine with a USB 3.2 Flash drive. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've had the same issue you reported with it randomly saying it's not connected. I've been using a microSD connected via USB-C reader though so figured that was my issue. I'm starting to believe that there may just be a bunch of bugs with Gear Guard since this is its first time on an R2. I've had issues with motion cam turning off/on at home, randomly not coming on when it should be, etc

Sounds like R2 GG is in mid-season form already, no warmup required 😆

Update: Rivian is having my car flat-bedded to the Atlanta Service Center tomorrow.

It appears that an ECU/Zonal module is faulty as its not just the subwoofer and blind spot view as I thought, its all things under the "Autonomy -> Obstacle Avoidance" sub-menu, which includes blind spot view.

They also plan to replace the defective subwoofer.
So you have the zonal module failure in common with Jose from RivianTrackr.

Edit: You already know this.

Two different R2 owners cars got repaired:

J000001 White R2 is repaired and back on the road per this Reddit post.

J000001 on Reddit: The root cause they diagnosed was a sensor failure internal to the rear drive unit. They replaced the drive unit. It took a week for the repair (most of the time waiting for the part) but happy to have it working now.
Also California Gold's R2 in the other thread was also repaired per his report:

Some good news for me. They fixed my issue. The charge port harness had a fault which needed to be replaced and they verified that my HV battery pack was in good health. I get the car back tomorrow!

All in all very satisfied with Rivian's support on this and the quick turnaround of 1 week.

Rivian messaged me yesterday promising to call me today with what their diagnostics found how long to fix.

They just called and basically said a lot of words to basically say that they still have no idea what’s causing the problem or what parts are needed. 🫠

Before they told you something about an ECU/zonal module failure. Are they walking that back now?

Seems like a handful of serious R2 issues are being amplified because they're being posted and cross-posted on various websites. So this morning I tried to compile them into a single spreadsheet and only found seven that I'd consider critical problems that affect driveability.

Lemme know if I missed any and I'll add them.

David Vaught's R2 was fixed as well with some sort of software issue. I assume there will be video uploaded about it at some point.

Eric Woomer's old report from 5 weeks ago was fixed in a week and he said on FB "Just got a call from the service center and they said it's a software issue AND the right brake sensor. Seems like the airbag and parking brake alerts were part of the software, the not being able to drive is the sensor. Handed me an R1S loaner and sent me on my way!"

So this only leaves JoshX/southernboyj on this forum as the only other publicly known customer car on that list that hasn't been fixed or diagnosed. So hopefully that means things are getting back on track.

Thanks for the update on Eric. I'm not on Twitter so I wasn't aware. I did have David's updated, but like you I'm waiting for details on the fix (he said it was software-only, which is interesting).

This is what I currently have as of 1 Aug.

None :(
My passenger side glovebox has a faulty locking mechanism, preventing it from opening. They tried to fix it during my pickup but ended up needed to order the part. I’m told mobile service will contact me for install once the part comes in.
I detailed / ceramic coated the car yesterday and noticed a lot of minor paint defects, probably nothing that I’ll pursue repairs for.

I will definitely come back here with an update when I get one.

Day 2 after getting my wife an R2 Perf. She likes it but doesn't love it.
It is adorable how much bandwidth is spent on the internet regarding range and efficiency. What's much more important is a car delivered that's put together and running solidly. I'd say our VIN 2000 something R2 is OK, not great. Not going to do the laundry list little issues as it's all noted in this thread. No show stoppers yet, just some annoyances. OK, heading back out to solving the passive entry swirl. My wife said she just wants a metal key and "f**k the electronic stuff", ouch. I am going to go older school and try a voodoo chicken blood shake. I'm sure we will figure it out at some point.

“OK” is not especially encouraging to those of us who have submitted orders. What is your color/wheels and what are your top three annoyances. I am anticipating the delivery of VIN 23xx in the next two or three weeks…but no delivery scheduled yet. Glacier White with 20” wheels.
