Awesome! Thanks. Another thread said the Rivian reps mentioned a male of average height could lay down in the back with the second row folded down. That would be about 6’.

I have an Equinox EV on lease with an R2 order as well. I went to the Pasadena Space, looked at the R2. Seems very close to the Equinox. The Equinox is 4 inches longer, 2” wider than the R2. The Lyric is bigger still. I think the R2 is closer to the Optic. (Same car, fancied up).

This is what I'm thinking as well. The reason the Lyriq feels tiny in the cargo area is because of the sloped roof. We have stuff jam packed to the roof in the Lyriq when doing road trips. Especially when you start including like a pack and play, stroller, suitcases etc.

From what I could tell the dimensions of the R2 may make it taller and more squared so I'm hoping that translates to more cargo volume. Hoping they bring the R2 to my city to do a walk around if not we may have to go with like an Ioniq 9 or something else since the R1S is just too pricey.

Remember too that not just the rear cargo area but the R2 has an actual usable Frunk to store things especially a pack n play and at least one carry on type luggage. So that would release some pressure from the rear cargo area.

We currently have a Cadillac Lyriq and our lease will be up next year hopefully in time for our R2 reservation. The problem is the Lyriq is a little small for our family. For those that maybe have seen both in person does the R2 seem a little larger in the cargo area?

I know the R1S is maybe a better option but not interested in the price point too expensive at 90k with the max dual. Was hoping for maybe a dual max R2 around 50-60k.

I know details are vague at this time just curious for those that maybe have seen both vehicles.

There are some almost no miles used 2023 Quad R1S for sale at about your price point. Check Carmax and Rivian.com.

@Mike777 we are in exactly the same situation for a different reason. Leased a Lyric with a great deal for 2 years while waiting for an R2. Need room for 3 dogs but empty nesters. Less worried about the space and want more rugged vehicle.

I rented a Lyriq on a work trip and let me tell you, I hated almost everything about it...

It's unfortunate because it looks decent but the driving experience was really bad for me.

1) The acceleration is awful. Let me clarify, it's stated at 0-60 in under 5 seconds but from 0-15 you get nothing so if you're trying to turn out on a busy street it's not going to give you hardly any power / torque which is dangerous IMO.

2) The screens are bad. You cannot even see what % the battery is at. The Cameras have bad resolution and you cannot keep the 360 camera or backup camera up on the main screen like you can on Rivian. The resolution for the 360 camera is bad and it's a tiny display. The guide lines look like something from 2012.

3) The sound was bad (so is Rivian Gen 2)

4) Way too many buttons and they weren't even intuitive / usable. The physical air vent controls seemed to not actually direct the air flow very which which is ironic because that's one thing people complain about Rivian/Tesla for no physical air vent controls but Tesla/Rivian work way better in my experience than something in the Lyriq or Lucid Air. The seat controls on the door seemed out of place to me. The massage function was not very intuitive and it was awkward to control from the door buttons only. Overall I thought the button layout/user interface or user experience in the Lyriq was just really bad compared to Tesla / Rivian. This is coming from someone with a Technology / IT background.

For our use case since we do road trips every other month really need the max pack. Lyriq gets about 230-250 real world highway range at 80. Considering every Texas highway is over 75 max pack is a necessity because of the range loss.

We have actually had a pretty good experience with it so far knock on wood.... Only minor issues with like the infotainment but other than that its been solid for 6 months and 8k miles already. Only did a 2-year lease because tech is changing so fast in the EV space and we got a hell of a deal for it.

Having a family I'm not really jamming the gas anyways. Plenty of pick up with the AWD.

I do agree on point 2 sucks not seeing percentage range but there are ways around it. Can ask google or if you pull up abrp it will show you since it syncs with the car.

3. Sound system is terrible cant argue against that.

4. I love buttons so give me more please. The R2 would be for my wife. I have the Scout Terra on order for myself for 2028 becuase I love the layout of the interior. Will replace my 2021 Ford Bronco.

To each their own. If one was coming from a pretty average gas car the 0-30 mph in the Lyriq would seem on par/normal. Compared to Teslas & Rivian it seems like a big slug.
