Look at the photo closer. It’s there because that back window is propped open.
I'm not sure what that has to do with my comment. I'm talking about the 2 windows that are presumably part of the door.

I bought my last 2 Rivian because of the excellent power and adjustable suspension. Without that on the R3x or the R2 as an option I would not get it. I use my Rivians true off road fun and need the ground clearance and then when I have guest enter for a casual night out I need it to lower. So that would be a big no for me unless that is an option.

My bad too many beers today. Yes that is a good question of what small part does with the door open. Cheers
I am virtually drinking with you...

Nix the ugly seats, and the orange mirrors, and then add fender flares like an old group-B rally car, and I'm in! And then if someone makes a Martini livery wrap for it, I might just faint.

You buy 1000 shares first and reserve the R2 model so the company stays alive.

Once R2 launches and we get to profitability, R3 will be available to reserve and you can buy another 1000 shares at that time too.
Ok

On the subject of the windows, the fixed part of the glass in the rear passenger door would have to be strong enough to use as a handle to close the door, because people will do it. They'll grab the very top and bang it closed. It would have to be pretty beefy. I guess that's possible. It's going to look a little weird. That's what happens if you want frameless glass and the whole glass doesn't go all the way down. I had a 4-door Pontiac Lemans with frameless glass many decades ago and the back windows only went halfway down. That's how they solved that problem. I wonder why Rivian decided on frameless glass. Does it look better? Do people even notice? I think it looks better personally.

I'm pretty disappointed by the frameless glass. I assume they're going to have to do the Tesla thing where the motor rolls the window down slightly any time you want to open the door? I hate that. It's so pointless, and creates safety issues (the door is harder to open if the window motor is nonfunctional, or if the car is unpowered, or if there's been icy weather, or...).

I just want a reliable, functional car. Not silly gimmicks.
