Random 20 Inch rims (cheap) for snow tires

Alright so… show me a set of 20s that fit, that won’t rub in lower suspension settings that don’t cost 1,000 a rim

It’s been reported here that the Variant SSM-1P rims will fit in all dimensions including offset, and are available in 20”, 21” & 22”. Price for 20” is $1,900/set on their website.

OP, American Racing AR944 on Tirerack for $260 each is the ONLY choice on that site that comes close to matching the offset. "Sold out for season" in black...

You would be moving the tire center line out a 1/2 inch (48mm - 35mm) = 12mm. The other 138 or so choices on Tirerack have lower offset, making them less likely. 100 are so far out of spec they definitely would not work. Of course, they say nothing about caliper clearance.

The popular opinion around here seems to be that +18mm "works" but I wouldn't bet $1000 on this. First, note the offset effect: 48mm - 18mm = 30mm. That's moving the tire center line out well over 1".

The argument that this would work in higher suspension settings needs to be scrutinized a bit. This suspension, especially when off road, needs it's full travel. I've attempted to see what the tire clearance to inner fender is at full droop (in front) and I get around 30mm with the OE 22's which would be eaten up by the 30mm extra poke of the +18mm rims. Note that the 20s have LARGER diameter tires, so YMMV. With the wheel turned, this is going to be different and possibly worse. I personally would not be comfortable going this way.

I agree. I don’t plan on doing this anyway, but if I were I would want to see more examples of it working. I think after the winter and many others have tried snow tires we will have that info. I can’t find the thread (it was one of the many snow tire/ snow mode/ wheel threads LOL), but yesterday someone had posted pics of a wheel with basically the same specs as those AR944s on their R1T while it was jacked up. According to them it fit perfectly (pics confirmed this ) but they didn’t have any tires on and he said his plan was to put bigger tires on.

So I do think what you said is ultimately correct: +18 offset will fit but your tire choice will determine everything after that.

The Raceline 20x9 +18 offset wheels with 285/65 BFG A/T KO2 tires measured at just a hair under 35" diameter it seems are the absolute largest that can be comfortably run without tearing up the fender liners at wheel lock and compression. I don't have a pic at lowest ride height but here's standard ride height and compression clearance attached.

Confession: I am being seduced by the beauty of Rivians like this with bigger off road tires. This is clouding my better judgement & causing me to consider these imperfect fitting options.

I’d be willing to accept SOME rubbing in exchange for this great look. But not so much that it causes damage.

I appreciate Rexbo & others that are willing to try new parts on their trucks and share the results with us. Looking forward to learning more about it.

It will absolutely work, I would just size an appropriate winter tire like a blizzak or something with the OEM 275/60R20 size

No spacers, , but definitely need hub rings.
