Just got mine installed and it's working well! Very happy with it!

My feedback is that the installation instructions could be improved. For example, a description of which direction to pull to remove the trim (straight down once the liftgate is open, starting from the edges and moving inwards), mentioning that the camera bracket spacer is necessary (I assumed it was maybe for the gen 2 camera or something, before realizing it was necessary and having to redo part of the install). Also would love if the torx bolts would be regular instead of security heads. Would have been nice to use my own tools.

but nothing was super challenging and I was able to get it working.

Great to hear you got it installed successfully and that you’re happy with it!

And thank you very much for the feedback on the instructions too! I’ll definitely take this all into account and polish them up a bit more. Great suggestions. I’ll consider switching to regular torx bits but I was hoping to keep it more secure with the ones included and opted to provide the appropriate tools instead.

I’d love to see some photos of the install if you’re willing!? :)

IMO the security hex doesn't add any security. The easiest way to steal the camera is to take the whole center cap (camera + 3d printed mount together). The security torx makes it annoying for a thief to remove the camera from the 3d print once home, but at that point it's already stolen so it doesn't really matter.

Will add pictures in the next day or two!

Just means you have an excuse to buy more tools ;)

@jrd should it be flush on the bottom of the camera mount to the wheel? Maybe I need to push in the bottom more?

I'll take photos tomorrow.

@Sidney I actually tried with that extra spacer and without. Currently have it without the spacer. Maybe that's where the gap I'm seeing at the bottom comes from.

Yes it should be reasonably flush, there is a bit of overhang evenly all the way around but it sits in the hole all the way so that the wheel touches the mount for the full circle. What wheel do you have?

If you have the OEM wheels, you shouldn’t need the spacer.

Hmm Okay. I will try and remount. I have OEM 20" Dark. Appreciate the rapid response, and thanks for the kit! The extra clips came in handy.

In the instructions I suggest going top in first and then bottom, but if that doesn’t work, try your best to have it go straight in. If you post photos or DM me, I can help further.

Glad the extra clips helped! I also needed to use a few 😅

Looks like I just needed to press harder. The tolerance is quite tight which is likely a good thing.

Had a momentary scare initially when the software said there was a camera issue, but it quickly resolved itself.

My partner and I are very excited. Just in time for some camping and a long road trip. Thanks for getting the kits out so fast.

That looks awesome! I love the red glow from the tail light, very cool!

Yeah, I purposely designed it to have very tight tolerances because I wanted to avoid it from easily rotating (and ruining the view) and also to prevent people easily pulling it out.

Hope you like it!

(To remove it again, just pry from the bottom first using the right angle part of a panel removal tool, or a screwdriver, or similar)

Forgot to mention that it was difficult, and I wasn't successful, to center the camera when putting the camera bracket into the 3D printed cap. In the end though, it's a product that I'm sure will continue to be improved, and I'm fine with tinkering, and on top of it, it's 99% functional and well within acceptable ranges.
Would I love a more robust solution with metal inset screw holes, a fool proof method to center the camera, etc? Sure. But I'm sure it'd be more expensive as well and this does a great job already.

Note that for clearance reasons my tire is at an angle (side to side). Which is why the rack isn't aligned with the tire

I hear you on this one. I’m working on an updated version that should get the alignment perfect for gen1 brackets without the need to fiddle with it. Gen1 and gen2 are a touch different. I don’t think metal inserts are necessary but rather some tweaks to the dimensions should get it spot on. (Assuming I understand what you mean).

The current design should have no functional differences, though. It is purely aesthetic to center the camera in the hole. But nonetheless, I will improve it.
