Rear hatch won’t open

New issue which I’m logging data and opening a new service request.

Noticed this a few days after getting the S back from service. Probably a coincidence as I don’t think service caused it.

A few days ago after shopping at Costco, I went to open the back and pushed the button under the back window. I heard it unlatch, but it never opened. I thought I did something wrong and clicked the button again. Unlatch sound, no movement. I then used the app to lock and unlock the S and tried again. This time it opened.

This morning my wife went to put the kiddos stuff in the back and it didn’t open. The vehicle was unlocked so I know it wasn’t that. I went to the back and also tried and when it didn’t open I went to the front and tried using the screen UI. This also failed so I pressed my name and held it for data logging.

Same thing happened this afternoon, took 4 times pressing the button to get the rear to open.

Anyone else run into this or is this just more bad luck with this S?

I had a similar issue and they had to replace the button on the rear hatch. I could open it from the app and the screen but not from pushing the button. It was a quick and simple repair.

This may be the same known issue mine had. If the info screen shows a red "obstruction detected" (popup disappears quickly), it's likely a defective bracket that takes mobile service a couple minutes to swap out. Try it from the front seat and watch the info screen. Mobile service has swapped a lot of these out, and I never had another problem after my repair. Also, from the back manual button, just a little finger pressure up will help it lift on its own.
