We have already had our R1S in shop twice for rear hatch not latching when we close. It pops up repeatedly. Next week I will see the local manager about this. Does every R1S have same problem?

My liftgate latches and unlatches fine but won't lift automatically. I have to manually lift it. There is usually a "Object detected" message. CS told me to schedule an appointment at a repair center, but it's too far. During a mobile repair for the dash rattle (also common) the repair tech showed me the design flaw in a bracket on the left side. He put a message in their system, someone called me to schedule, and it's now a mobile repair. Tech said this is also common and now an easy fix. Possibly yours not latching is related to the mounting bracket issue.

I currently have an issue with my liftgate. It's caught in between latched and open. I cannot close it and the release button does not let it open. It moves about a quarter inch, but cannot get it to latch. They are sending mobile service and hopefully won't have to tow it to the Miami SC an hour away.

If anyone runs into this problem, be aware that it may drain your 12V battery. Last week it was completely dead and had to be towed. They replaced the 12V battery but when we got it home, we noticed the liftgate issue. I suspect this is what caused the battery drain. Service advised me to keep it connected to the charger to avoid having the 12V battery run down.

Our liftgate didn't latch at first after they replaced the latch due to it rattling. I slammed the tailgate pretty hard and it hasn't repeated that since.

Try to push on the tailgate portion at the same time. The liftgate acts weird if the tailgate is not fully shut. Loss of 12V power might have lost the state it thinks the liftgate and tailgate are currently in if a sensor needs to get adjusted.

Yeah second the liftgate issue as far as having to slam my tailgate shut in order to get the liftgate to close. Also doesn’t open on slopes and sometimes on level ground.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, no combination of forceful shutting, or holding closed while pushing the button is working. Service says mobile service is not an option. They're verifying whether its safe to drive it or if it will need to be towed.
