The EX60 is shaping up to be a very compelling alternative to the R2. The P10 version has very similar specs at a similar price, the P6 will compete with the "standard" R2 when it comes out, and the P12 is the 400 mile max pack I wish Rivian would build. Here is a quick comparison chart and a link to the TFL overview. Rumor says configurator goes live on 20th and that the P10 is starting at $58k in the US.

P10 vs LE R2, I'm going R2 (or Polestar 3 honestly).

P12 with that monster range though...then I'll be in trouble. That is hard to ignore. Can't wait to play with the configurator stateside and go test drive it.

I really like what I'm seeing the EX60. So much so that it got me looking at the 2026 EX90 and coming soon 2027 Polestar 3 with the 800v update. If Volvo can add some version of pet mode, I'd be really sold.

It is interesting that in the online comparisons, the R2 is never mentioned in the Volvo EX60, BMW iX3, or Mercedes GLC. I suppose it is because the R2 is not considered a luxury vehicle, and the others are.
After adding the options to the base prices of the cars, I think there will be a significant cost difference between the R2 and the EX60. Other differentiators not mentioned in the spec sheet are cargo/storage space and autonomy now and in the future. Rivian has the advantage here. It all depends on what is important to you.

They just don't want to draw attention to their superior competition.

The ex60 doesn't really do offroad unless you get the Cross Country version. Also, the R2 LE has equivalent performance to the P12 without the range. I bet the P12 is much much more expensive though.

The Volvo is about as Chinese as we'll see an EV in the US for a long while. I had a deposit on an EX30 and while the vehicle almost had me, the pricing was 50K+ on launch with zero under that. I got my deposit back as it just wasn't that nice, more weird than anything

I also had a deposit on an EX30 but after I sat in the rear seat (behind myself) I felt that it was just too small. Anyone know the relative screen sizes between the EX60 and R2? I can't seem to find the dimensions of the R2 screens anywhere.

For me to even consider these legacy companies means they have to commit to the US market.

I was interested in the EX30 as a second car but Volvo pulled it from the US market.

The legacy company I see truly committed is Hyundai/Kia

BMW is starting to interest me though. Perhaps?

I do plan on keeping my R1T so its just a matter of deciding on whether to also have an R2 or switch to something else.

What upgrades would be needed on the EX60? The specs in terms of glass roof, heated seats etc are the same. The Volvo has a likely better stereo and interior color choice will be free rather than costing on the Rivian. If anything the $4k difference between Premium R2 and EX60 P10 will reduce when including interior and exterior color options.

I am taking equivalent specifications which the plus EX60 has compared to the Premium R2. Volvo does give the option to go even higher in spec which Rivian doesn’t but wanted an apples to apples comparison which have similar range, speed and equipment.

configured this P12 on the UK website. June 2027?:surprised: The P10 does say available in October of this year. Also that comes out to about $95K (includes VAT) in US dollars. I configured a P10 on the Canada website and it came out to $58K in USD
