Rivian and EZpass question...what code do you pick? does it even matter ?

I need a new EZPass transponder, left mine in my old car when i sold it. What do you guys pick for vehicle, since my R1S is over 8500lbs. Toll prices are based on axles, tires and mile traveled I though, so does it even matter ?

I didn't even know it's a thing. I think I still have my 2001 Audi A4 set as primary in EZPass. Just set it to car/SUV, I wouldn't worry too much.

Yeah, I didn't realize either. I live in NH and still have my EZpass account with MA from 15 years ago. When adding a car Rivian wasn't listed, I assumed because of weight.

NJ EZ Pass site doesnt even have Rivian as an available make, but does have a ton of Vehicle Types

I got a NY EZPass, just transferred the one from my Volt and kept my green plan. It's in their system as Rivian/Other and it's put down as an auto/SUV I think.

Also, the GVWR is NOT the vehicle weight, GVWR is how much it weighs fully loaded, unloaded it's under 7000lbs.

When I was on the East Coast last year the pay by mail invoices I got from the toll roads for the R1S was standard passenger car rate.

Yeah, I wondered about it to before I got my R1S. Had an extra tag from before which I’ve been using. Still an SUV so I think we’re fine.

10% off the NYS Thruway and $3.50 off the NYC hudson crossings, but they bill you $1/mo. I don't really drive them that much, so it's kinda a wash. My coworker commutes over the bridges so it saves him like $50/mo in tolls.

We kept our NY E-ZPass because of the discounts crossing the Hudson - it adds up quickly even if you only do it occasionally. I don't recall having to choose the type of vehicle.

VA EZpass, just went with the default options. I guess technically it's 7100 lbs, but I don't think anyone's gonna make me get on the scales over a hundred pounds. ?

BTW gentlemen, not sure if this is public knowledge but you don't have to buy your state's EZPass. I live in NJ and have New Hampshire EZPass cause there are no service fees and for the initial $30 deposit you can get 4 tags.

Yep. Also have NY one (though we live in NJ), and was able to pick Rivian in their system but there was no option between R1S and R1T.
