I'm amazed at how long these threads can run on and on....

Insurance is there for reason and ultimately the attorneys and the insurance companies will sort this out. It sucks for the OP, but Sh!t happens, ask this guy.

From my recollection this forum came to the conclusion that this was due to him doing high speed donuts on a soft surface.

It's amazing how much more often $hit happens when you're being reckless.

What I love about the photo it looks so innocent. Part of me wants to be charitable to the driver and assume it was just an mishap.

So if it hasn't already been mentioned, OP is using his friends (or fake accounts) to post his version of this story all over social media. Saw it myself just a little while ago on a Facebook article about the R2. No brownie points for you, sir. And I wouldn't be surprised if Rivian is talking to their own lawyers about it, now... ☹

Yeah seriously. You can kiss any goodwill goodbye at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if they offer him the cash and say “thank you, next. We don’t want you as a customer anymore”

It would be great if Rivian pulled a Ferrari and banned him. :)

No Rivian for you.

I'm guessing the service center manager made the promise and then was overruled by his superiors.

Service center manager do not have the power to make this kind of promise. They're only "service" managers.

Stop guessing and read the actual thread. You don't need to guess.

He already accepted the insurance payout…weeks ago before writing his letter to RJ.

Not reneged. Read the letter he posted on facebook.

Riven never offered him a 2026 brand new model. They offered to replace it at his betterment. He starts asking for new. They then start suggesting a repair/payout.

They offer a second time, certified pre-owned (this is later than the first back and forth above). OP rejects it as "he normally only buys new vehicles and cant trust prior owners".

He lays it all out.

OP's case is that when Rivian offered a replacement at his "betterment" that REQUIRES brand new, and 22" sport rims, and Max battery. But that is his requirement, and was never offered by Rivian.
The original offer was for a new vehicle (hence the screenshots of current inventory). Believe what you want, but I have all the documentation to show what was offered.

Screenshots of inventory?? Like yes, that's where all new and USED trucks come from.

It's irrelevant tho.

You seem to think you are "owed" something even if something was incorrectly offered. Some guy said new..ok he was wrong. Your not entitled to it. Would have nice but reality kicked in. That was not a contract and you have no right to it.

Most people would have been like, man almost got a new truck guys, but I knew it was too good to be true....and moved on.

That's entitlement. They offered pre-owned, and you turned it down again. Shame on you.

You are oned the value of a 2023 R1T.

Take em to court...stand in front of a judge and see if he thinks your owed 100k truck.

I do not feel I’m owed a new truck. It was offered so I accepted. I’m certainly not entitled to a new truck. It was offered so I accepted. I did turn down the used offer as the settlement did not cover the cost. I did feel Rivian could have made an offer to help cover that cost difference as a gesture of goodwill. Thanks for the enjoyable conversation.

See, that's entitlement..".I was offered and I accepted". That's entitlement bs.

Funny, your letter clearly stated, "During a conversation with Jim Pan on March 18, 2026, he offered a RPO (Rivian Pre-owned) R1T as a replacement option (at my expense) My wife and I considered this, but ultimately decided against it as we tend to buy new vehicles."

That's about as close to saying your owed a new truck without saying, they owe you a new truck.

Keep making your case. It's a good look for you.
