I have used Rivian Enhanced Highway Assist on I26 in SC numerous times and really like not having my hands on the wheel (except when necessary). However, today, my Rivian would not let me go "hands free" on I26 and required me to use my hands. No big deal, but I am wondering if the Rivian Enhanced Highway Assist feature will not let you go "hands free" on known and previously used locations for a particular reason. Does anybody have any ideas?

Your free trial of Autonomy+ expired is what happened. It's goes back to requiring hands on wheel and highways only.

Used Autonomy + from Phoenix to Venice this weekend to attend the Rivian Block Party. It definitely made the drive more relaxing. BTW, The R2 is awesome in person!

I think the hands free update was great, a little too much of a nag even when glancing at your map. It just expired and I feel the old version yesterday was watered down to get you on the paid version. On my long drive yesterday it would not auto lane change and it would not work on roads I had use it on in the past. I disagree with a paid update especially at $50 per month, $19.95 would be the high end for me. I feel $50 is a little greedy, especially because it came stock with my Tesla Model Y.

I'm actually fighting with Rivian over this. I used Enhanced Highway Assist quite a bit after I bought my R1S in May. EHA was included. Then when Autonomy+ was released, the miles of available roads obviously increased greatly! Yay! However, I don't need it on the 25 mph drive to work. For all intents and purposes, Rivian has taken away a feature we had and now put it behind a paywall. It is not different than if your ICE pickup came with a trailer hitch package, then they installed an advanced trailering package with weight distribution, gave you a two-month free trial, then when the trial ended, they also took the hitch your truck came with and said "You have to pay to get it back." Essentially, Rivian has stolen something that was part of our Gen 2s. My Cadillac has three years of free SuperCruise, after which we'll have to pay when we want it. Fine. That was disclosed at purchase. This move by Rivian was not.

It was all clearly spelled out as a trial. You didn't read and are mad at Rivian for providing a free trial. If you sign up for Fubo or Netflix, do you get mad at them for charging you after the trial period ends?

I agree that Autonomy+ was a free trial. I don't remember being told that Enhanced Highway Assist, which was a hands-free, freeway only version of Highway Assist for the Gen2s, was a trial. If it was someplace in the purchase paperwork that I signed in May, then that's on me. In two days of discussions with Rivian, that has not been indicated to me.

I will admit that maybe I'm missing something here, but I had EHA for free for 7 months prior to Autonomy+ rollout in December. I don't need UHF, but I'd like to know how Rivian justifies the loss of EHA. Maybe I'm missing something in this post.

When you purchased, it was RAP+ and EHA was part of that trial. RAP+ became Autonomy+ and EHA became UHF. I used the wayback machine to show you the language that was applicable to you at that time and it clearly shows EHA was part of a trial.
