For the record, a restaurant is a TERRIBLE idea. I suggested a ‘destination outpost’… with something that makes it unique, consistent with the outdoor ethos…

This is worse than an old-fashioned game of ‘Telephone’ 😆

You did say “a la Tesla Diner” in the title ;)

I get your overall point, though. RAN stations with something extra in some cool places…

True. I meant the spirit of the idea…

That’s already being done. They’re called Outposts.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Rivian needs to build a network for the average person using their cars. 95% use them as daily drivers. Rivian barely has any cash and had less and less revenue. They need to spend every penny improving the customer experience, QCing cars, and building a product for the masses.

If Rivian spent a dime on a diner or outpost experience, it would be nuts.

Plus the diner is just average food and Tesla propaganda. Who wants that?
I think he wants a Rivian outpost with average food and Rivian propaganda, but I digress.

You’re right, Rivian is still a startup and needs to focus on making the R2 a success while expanding their service centers. They can continue to slow roll a charger here and there, but access to Tesla’s Supercharger network pretty much has them covered, for now.

And as mentioned repeatedly - they have them. Rivian Outposts.

God you Tesla hating Rivian fanboys drive me nuts. Yeah pulling in to charge, ordering food and drink right from your car’s screen and having someone bring it out to sounds HORRIBLE! Lol

Nah, they need to focus on quality control and having fewer vehicle with major issues right after being driven off the lot, or delivered incomplete to customers. They need to get this correct prior to launching the R2. I want the company to succeed, not set up diners or movie theaters.

Rivian's brand is outdoor adventure, not city cheeseburgers.

?? You have to wait in line for your food, my friend lol
Actually, you don’t. You order via your car screen or the Tesla Diner app. They bring the food to you. And, you can park and watch movies synchronously with your car stereo. I’m not a Tesla kinda guy but you have to admit it’s pretty cool.

Again, this is not Rivian… but I hope someday they do something inline with their ethos. The Outposts seem cool, but I have not experienced them.

They should focus on survival and getting the R2 launched successfully.

That being said, someday an outpost with bouldering lessons near Joshua Tree would be cool… or an outpost that allows enthusiasts to experience a curated off-road trail… perhaps an outpost in the forest that demonstrates and teaches survival skills and bushcraft. This is down the line but could be really special.

I wouldn't necessarily want Rivian to get into the restaurant business, but I sure would like them to do a better job of picking locations with at least a 24/7 bathroom and somewhere to grab a bite of food while I wait nearby. I try to stop at RAN stations whenever I travel to support Rivian and I love that they usually have a trailer friendly station, But I have found several didn't even have a bathroom nearby. My last one was in Northern Virginia at a large mall that had no public restrooms and no stores/restaurants open before 11:00 am. Glad there were bushes nearby. I find Tesla has done a much better job of this as most of their stations are at a full service gas station or near a fast food restaurant. I'm very excited about IONNA as they begin expanding. It seems like they really understand what makes a good charging experience from fast, reliable plug and charge charging to canopies, trash containers, and bathrooms. I'd also like Rivian to be a bit more competitive in pricing.
