We'd planned to hold off on Rivian until our promised local service center opens but this voucher (and our never-ending poor experiences with Tesla quality and service) will likely change that. Reading the language about buy versus lease, I'm a bit confused. If we used our voucher to lease an R1 with the intent to possibly purchase at the end, would our residual value be discounted compared to someone not using the voucher? Or would it be the same, and Rivian is just cutting you slack on the payments? Chat support couldn't tell me and Rivian sales has not replied to any of my emails (Always a good sign).
I confirmed configuration last night on a shop R1. You’d essentially lease a vehicle with an initial total value of $18,000 less than w/o voucher. So I believe it’s applied to both payment and residual-could be wrong.

Dual motor for $59,920 with discount.

jeebus this is an awesome deal for pre-order holders who are ok with the dual motor configuration. The tax credit on top is just icing on the cake.

I'm happy to see Rivian taking these steps to move closer to profitability. They are doing it in a fair and equitable way. I like how shrink put it.... S*** or get off the pot 😂

I also like that they are offering the discount on lease's as well. They're trying to clear all these old reservations off their books. It's been 2 years now. Time to s*** or get off the pot 💥
Heck I canceled my reservation 6 months ago and I’ve been emailing atleast one a week for my deposit back. They haven’t refunded that, my charger, nor my interest charges. One lady even said they never got the charger back. Luckily I had proof with the tracking number. They’re all over the place and now with even less employees due to the recent layoffs I can’t even imagine how much worse it’s gotten.

Assuming you could buy out the vehicle cash why would you even consider Leasing? Now these numbers are not exact and based on my tax rate (and have a binding agreement hence the 7500 rebate on a buy). What am I missing?

Leasing voucher needs to be applied to your leasing payment.

It is. It automatically applies it when you're signed in with pre March pricing

Can you post up screenshots. What I saw people posting online was $18,000 discount on the price when you lease. Someone will have to confirm the starting price and residuals.

Based on my calculations for the Lease pricing I'm seeing for the QM, the total loss per month of ownership is about $1200 (including taxes, fees, insurance, electricity) based on my estimated use case. In order to get the value lost per month of ownership that low for purchasing a QM, I need to own it for like 5-6 years. (I have a way too complicated spreadsheet I made to help me calculate this.) So, I'm considering leasing to actually save money.

Any of the DM options aren't as appealing. I haven't run the numbers yet, but I'm sure they're not advantageous for me.

I'm not sure what electricity and insurance cost (I don't think the difference between buying and leasing is that much of a factor) have anything to do with the calculation. The idea is comparing what your estimated losses are after 3 yrs for just the vehicle.

The electricity and insurance are the same. It's just that it's already included in the calculation. The maintenance is different because I wouldn't expect to replace the brakes and have other costly service items during my ownership when leasing. Where as when owning something for longer, I'd expect to replace tires, brakes and possibly need to pay for some maintenance. That was estimated to be less than $100/month savings for leasing.

Are they shutting down productions of all R1's? and will the continue to update the shop with more stock?

I'm in the Toronto area and there are 0 standard and standard+ battery options to choose from for the R1S.

Contact a guide, they'll find one in another area that matches your desires and have it shipped.

and here we go again with the conflicting info! Anecdotal report from Reddit below

IMG_2231.jpeg

The above would make the most logical sense IMO

Rivian really needs to step up the communication. Getting my pops a shop order with the end of quarter discount this week has been absolutely BRUTAL
I feel that you will likely have to take delivery by September 30. That’s the final day of their corporate quarter. If they truly want a maximized Q4, they won’t want any pre-March orders pending transactions in the final quarter. So all transactions should be complete by September 30.
