Rivian paint quality?

I'm going to get delivery today! Super excited but a little sad that I have no room in the garage. Thus the R1S is going to be sitting outside. I know, a brand new vehicle getting hit by the weather and sun. I know its supposed to be an outdoorsy and rugged vehicle. How is the quality of the paint? I'm getting limestone so I know matte colors will typically show swirl marks and dust faster.

That is reassuring. Swirl marks easily visible on Limestone?

Swirl marks are typically more easily visible on darker colors, so you’re probably ok with Limestone. But, if you’re still concerned, perhaps get paint correction and then PPF on it?

Nice choice. PPF or ceramic coating. Avoid brushes and automatic car washes unless they are touchless. Will reduce the occurrence of swirl marks. PPF will give best protection, ceramic will protect a little and make it easier to clean.

Same with LA Silver. Doesn't show dirt or swirls, either.

I due the traditional sealant + wax every 4-6 months. Ceramic isn't something I have explored yet. Not wanting to spend so much for a ceramic coat.

The Count has never used PPF or ceramic on any vehicle. As most people are aware, The Count loves battle scars.

Not that it matters to longevity, but it will have orange peel. Apparently, this is the norm now, even on luxury brands.

After a year and a half my launch green shines up really nice after running it through a quality car wash and no paint issues found. I admit I do not go over the car with a magnifying glass looking for issues.

It’s standard OE grade acrylic. Not bad, not great. Orange peel is about has good as Mercedes which isn’t saying much…

Rivian paint quality and build quality. First video is the most recent and last video is when R1S start to roll out to the public.

Paint quality, panel gaps and trim quality has all improved from initial release.

Had my R1S PPF'd right after I picked up the car. Haven't worried about the paint quality since then.
