I watched that video, and it can't be a perpetual issue they've yet to solve considering they did the Pikes Peak in one already.
I believe pikes peak was an R1T with a longer wheel base. The video in referencing was an R1 S and the R1S is far less planted and has much worse suspension, to this date.

I wouldn’t even consider a quad motor R1S because it’s still going to be a really shitty ride compared to the R1T. The R2 will definitely drive much better than the R1S.

Good point on the wheel base further planting the vehicle, making it less likely. Still, a single pre production vehicle having that issue once is not necessarily a systematic problem with the drivetrain itself.

Also, the Tri is likely part of the reason for the extended lead time on the Quad. Further validation of in customer hands use of the Ascent motors (rear drive units in the tri) ahead of the quad. Also, hard to sell a Tri when the quad is fairly close in price.

Say the Tri is your neutral price point, would you pay 10k more for the quad, or save 10k and get a dual? or just get the Tri? I'd personally either go up to the quad, or drop down to the dual.

After purchasing the Tri R1S (have one) I would have rather waited for the Tri Motor R2 as I do not need the 7 seats and the R1S has an undesirable suspension compared to the R1T.

Gardner Nichols knows what he's doing though. If you plant your foot on the floor in my Tri at the wrong time, it definitely does not act as well behaved as my gen1 quad if you have both vehicles in reduced traction mode.

My Tri handles pretty closely to my Gen1 R1T after Rivian's last update. All of the really undesirable issues are the same. Seams in the pavement or potholes are pretty harsh in both vehicles. Driveway transitions are still bad if you're outside of the speed range for where they've tuned.

Hard disagree here.

Have both an R1T & R1S and the R1S is definitely way more wobbly at higher speeds and does not feel planted like the R1T does...

Get your S alignment checked then.

Gen2 Quad is spending extra time in the oven so it will have all the issues flushed out...there will be no service appointments besides regular maintenance intervals. Hahaha!

Seriously though, it's coming sooooooooon! I'm jealous/happy of those that are able to buy one of these beasts.

I reserved my quad one year ago :(
No Brian's allowed apparently.

I am curious to see his take on it, considering he's had his Quad R1T Gen 1 since launch and still daily drives it to this day (you can see it in the reflection of the Gen 2). Obviously the immediate punch is going to feel better, but is it enough to get out of Gen 1 LE?
Part of me is really, really hoping Rivian steps up their sound system offering with the launch of the new Quad. It's clearly their weakest link right now, and to launch without sorting it, would be a shame.
