PLEASE CANCEL SO WE CAN GET OURS SOONER!!!
I figured that would be the first response.

I am serious about getting owners' thoughts once the honeymoon has ended. Any opinions beyond "that is what is expected when you are an early adopter?"

What would you advise those of us who are still waiting for delivery to do?
Honestly I think it’s too early to say. Everyone I have talked to or met that works at Rivian has genuinely seemed sincere and wanting to help make my experience great. They have been making things right as well to date outside of some pending issues.

Probably if I could go back I would keep my reservation but defer to a max pack or something and hope to get one after they have sorted out all of the kinks in both the truck and their corporate infrastructure. It is really hard to turn down the allure of this truck though, because that was my plan after I bought an EV6 in February.

As Elon would say; welcome to production hell. Rivian is going to have a rough few years.

Hey Zac…you asked for opinions so here’s mine…

All of the issues in this thread and on this forum are always difficult and sometimes “tragic” for the owner affected but, I expect they are a small percentage of overall new owner experiences. Although that doesn’t minimize the PITA for the owner impacted, it does seem WAY more folks are happy than aren’t. I sympathize with the victims, want to learn from their experiences and genuinely hope their problems are resolved quickly and to their satisfaction…that’s why we have the forums.

I’ve bought a lot of new cars (or what seems like a lot for me ~20-30) from all makes and models over the years and all of them have had some issue or another. Some manufacturers responded better than others and that steered me toward or away from them on the next one. Bottomline: nothing’s perfect and you’ll always find disappointment if you look hard enough. If you want it, stick with it but keep your patience handy. Most indications I see are positive both in product and corporate response so I’m sticking around. Just my $.02…

Good luck!

100% agreed.

I'm picking up my R1T today and I'm excited, desire everything.

I'm excited because I bought a 90k 2020 Land Rover Discovery (loved it), but after 14 straight months in the shop, 18 months total, 2 dealerships, 1 independent company, 2 different states, the vehicle could not have the electronic door/key problems fixed. It wasn't a good experience at all!

Land Rover was miserable to deal with and even with lawyers it wasn't an easy process. Waited two months while making payments on a car JLR legal bought and owned, that I hadn't seen in over a year. It just sucked.

I also had to threaten to sue Tesla regarding my Model S back in 2018. The car sat at repair center for 8 months with what Tesla a assured me was a 1 month fix. But at least Tesla tried to make things right without lawyers. This was before Tesla had it's own service centers.

So I've been through some $*** and I'm sure I'll go through some $*** with Rivian too, but it's never the absence of problems that defines a great company. It's how that company overcomes those issues and does right by it's customers.

I hope Rivian does right by all it's owners.

R1T here I come!

^^ This is a great way to put it.

I get my truck on Friday morning, hoping not to have major issues, but am fully expecting a flurry of smaller ones. Without minimizing the impact of the folks here at all, Rivian has delivered over 3,000 trucks (as of the last earnings call, more by now). I think between the forums and Reddit (and considering the potential of overlap), I've seen less than 10 major issues (to the point I'd consider backing out), so in terms overall statistics, I'm still all in.

Again, my own two pennies, so YMMV.

Got my R1T in Normal this week, and now working (72hrs) over the holiday weekend. The experience was awesome!

Thanks to Lucas, Katy and Jake (Rivian employees)

Supposedly Rivian is hitting 103 vehicles per day. This was R1T/R1S units. So my vin#5716 and plenty more coming (217 days left). 25k does sound within Rivian's grasp.

And... Wow the Amazon van is HUGE.

It was a great time and was able to put on about 300 miles to my R1T from Factory, to home, to work (sites) as of today.

I'm kinda gobsmacked with the R1T. It's just awesome (especially at the 80k price tag OMG), I'm not going to give any more immediate thoughts other then I'm happy with it and the experience overall. I need more time in it while not at work to get a better feel for it.

So Rivian came today with a mobile service van. They resolved all of these issues the best they could, the surface scratches are still visible but less so, they also took time to touch up a handful of rock chips a step beyond IMO.

In the end I have had a handful of issues at various point in the process but Rivian has gone out of their way to make things right, even if it took longer than I hoped in some cases.

They will slowly iron out most of these issues but hoping they stay so eager to keep customers happy!

Congrats!!!

I’ve owned one black vehicle in my life. As sharp as your R1T looks I said would never own a black vehicle never again. I have been driving white vehicles for the past 20 years.

How does EV6 compare in day today and traveling sense?
The EV6 was great but I already sold (breaking even) it because it was redundant for me and managing the matte paint seemed excessive.

What is your question about the EV6 specifically, not sure I understand your question.

It is still in running for me. How does ride comfort, noise, driving experience, phantom loss (and anything else you think should be a consideration) compares to R1T?

It sounds like it is a better traveling machine as far as charging goes, it is less expensive, larger service center network, a company that is more likely will be around in 10 years. If I didn't have off road, towing and 0-60 aspirations and didn't need the ground clearance or the bed, would you recommend it to me over Rivian? Considering Explore probably won't be in my driveway until 24 and EV6 tax credit will probably run out by then.
