Rivian Service Debacle!

It is still in running for me. How does ride comfort, noise, driving experience, phantom loss (and anything else you think should be a consideration) compares to R1T?

It sounds like it is a better traveling machine as far as charging goes, it is less expensive, larger service center network, a company that is more likely will be around in 10 years. If I didn't have off road, towing and 0-60 aspirations and didn't need the ground clearance or the bed, would you recommend it to me over Rivian? Considering Explore probably won't be in my driveway until 24 and EV6 tax credit will probably run out by then.
Ok. First off they are very different cars but I’ll give my impressions.

1. Efficiency is much better (to be expected). I could easily achieve 3 mi/kWh with my AWD model with the 20” wheels. With the RWD model you could easily get 3.5 mi/kWh in my estimation.

2. Speed/performance - no it can’t do 0-60 in 3s but at ~4.6s it is more than sufficient IMO also the EV6 was a little more nimble in the feel of the driving mechanics. If you wait for the EV6 GT or the GV60 high end model I think that number should be below 4s 0-60.

3. Comfort is good, head room was an issue if you bring the seat up too high but I am 6’1”. Also tech features like Apple CarPlay/AA, vehicle display information, ’physical‘ buttons, HUD, opening sunroof, interior space etc. The EV6 has a lot of advantages in those areas If you option it that way.

4. I never fast charged my EV6 once but the advantage there is clear, smaller battery and faster charging is hard to beat.

5. HDA2 is better than Driver+ right now. It does lane centering on any road with lines and lane changes on ‘mapped’ highways.

6. Service, yes more service network but less experienced with EVs and less likely to go out of their way to make you happy.

7. Software updates, both supposedly can do OTAs but I suspect with Kia/Hyundai they will be far less frequent and significant.

8. I observed negligible vampire drain on the EV6 so it wins there today.

9. Technically the Kia can have a tow hitch, I think on the order of 4500lbs. So heavy towing R1T wins of course along with any other truck stuff, off-roading, hauling etc

So yeah if you want an EV in the short term and don’t need to tow heavy things, haul or go off-road I would definitely recommend the EV6 or the Ioniq 5, personally I think the GV60 is the best looking of the 3 but that is subjective. Would I recommend it over the Rivian, if you don’t need a truck absolutely but I don’t think it is inherently better that said if Hyundai started selling a mid-sized truck with the interior quality of an EV6 that would be a reasonable debate to have.

This is extremely helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I may wait for Rivian’s window update and do a bit of soul searching.
