After 2 months of waiting for my service, I received a text the day before the appointment that it will take them 2 to 3 weeks to work on my car.

At least you get a rental….would they let you drop it off in 2-3 weeks? Probably best to have it there.

I asked if I can just drop off when they are ready and they said no. For me it is just a waste of money for Rivian to pay for a rental knowing they will not be able to work on it right away.

At least at Costa Mesa SC, the rental was a brand new Mercedes GLE 350 which was very nice. I did miss the Rivian driving experience, but the Mercedes fit and finish was top notch. Handling at higher freeway speeds was excellent. Our second visit, which is mainly to fix damage/issues caused during the first visit, they gave us an R1T loaner. I really love this truck and appreciate being able to drive it like a Rivian is intended to be driven. I didn't baby this truck, took it to mountains, fishing and parked it wherever there was a free spot at Costco. I get to romp on it from light to light and answered more questions about it than I ever thought I would. Honestly, I wish I could justify a second Rivian, but with a new ICE truck and two other never ending project cars, I just can't.

With that said. I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy not having to think about door dings or scratches for 3 to 4 weeks.

“Repairs will not start anytime soon” is quite a way to put it, lolololol.

That's awesome! Do all service appointments qualify for an Enterprise rental? And how does it work at Costa Mesa...do they have Enterprise reps on site like some dealers, do they shuttle you to a local office, or?

When you put in your service ticket, you will get a call to verify what issues you have and to set an appointment date. At that time, you have let them know that you need a vehicle to get to work, pick up the up the kids from school etc... They will put it in the notes. When yiu arrive, you go over the problems again with the service rep and he then calls enterprise to pick you up. They take you to the Newport Office near John Wayne Airport. Enterprise already had my info and after showing my ID and a couple insurance questions, I was off. It does take a little time... like 20-30 minutes waiting at Rivian and then 15-20 until I was off in the rental.

That is possibly the most miss guided communication yet to come from Rivian. Wow....that is really not a good way to sell vehicles....

And don't they have a new communications executive that should make sure that kinda messaging isn't happening?

I for one would take lots of detailed photos inside and outside the vehicle as it would not be one bit surprising to pick up a new ding, scratch or blemish sitting around a busy SC for 3+ weeks before they even start working on your vehicle! What a short sighted plan by Rivian...
If they told me to bring my truck in to the Brooklyn SC and have it sit there for 3 week prior to working on it... they would not get a very courteous reply!
