Why would Rivian want to get into business with a failing company? I wouldn't touch Lucid with a 10ft pole at this point. Maybe Aston can save them but I doubt it.
Not even. Either a Chinese or Indian company will pick them up most likely.

Rivian should join forces with Lucid and that would give them the market for turcks, vans, and cars!

The company I see that could partner or buy Rivian is BMW. Rivian gives BMW a door to the adventure lifestyle market. Plus, once Georgia is up and running, they will increase their manufacturing capacity significantly. BMW already exports cars from the US, they could easily expand Rivian's market outside the US. Rivian also gives BMW a commercial product in the EDV.

Lucid has a beautiful design and great tech but it is way too expensive to be competitive. Lucid needs someone who can help them get the cost under control or else someone with sufficient high-end name recognition that customers don't ask about the price. And Lucid would be valuable to a company without much BEV experience.

There is no point for 2 companies with the same strengths and the same weaknesses to join forces.
And Rivan and Luicid have very similar strengths (and weaknesses). Rivian already has decent EV tech so would see little benefit from Luicid's tech. And Rivian is not exactly knocking it out of the park on pricing or production even if they are doing better than Lucid.

If I were Lucid and wanted to join forces with someone, I would be looking at either a Japanese or an Italian automaker. The Japanese automakers are way behind in the EV-tech arena, but are great at mass producing more affordable vehicles. Or the Italian's who also don't have much in the way of EV's and have a dedicated following of buyers who don't ask about the price.

Both Rivian and Lucid are black holes of capital with amazing growth prospects.

Both are good acquisition targets for automakers with plenty of capital but happen to be behind the curve on the EV transition.

Combining the financials of both companies would lead to their rapid demise.

There might have been a possible benefit to RIvian solely for Lucid's factory, if Rivian had not already aquired land and started construction in Georgia and they could get it at a bargian price. But that is a big maybe - if Lucid's factory would be sufficiently state of the art for RIvian. Lucid's planned capacity was 400k per year.

At this point, Rivian is better off finishing off their Georgia build out.
