Rivian Space to open right above Massachusetts Turnpike

The electric vehicle retailer Rivian has found a location for its first Boston sales center, and it’s about as high a profile location for motorists as possible: right above the Massachusetts Turnpike.

The direct-to-consumer EV seller will open this summer at Lyrik, the two-building development over the Pike that sits between Back Bay’s two main shopping stretches, Boylston and Newbury streets.

Rivian’s Boston location will be its third store in the Northeast, coming after two in New York City. The carmaker has 10 U.S. stores in all.

Rivian will be the latest EV store in Boston, along with a Tesla store at the Prudential Center, Lucid in the Seaport and Polestar in Allston. It won’t be a traditional dealership, however: Rivian business model lets customers custom-build their vehicles, then ships it to them.

I recently did a demo drive out of Chelsea and the demo guide mentioned that they're planning on a 2nd location, possibly in Canton MA. Take it with a grain of salt.

Maybe Rivian should explore southern NH for their next site. Makes more sense. Their facility could cover Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.

My Rivian is going to be located in Maine, so this would make a lot of sense.
