I don't see why they can't keep the holiday locking sound on permanently since they allowed it for two weeks for halloween. So why not just leave that extra sound there? And then in a year, change it to whatever new lock sound, if in fact we only have two possible "permanent" lock sounds (bird, owl) and a special sound (frog).
Gen 1 has a very limited space for sounds since they are held within the speaker controller - unlike Gen 2 is just a speaker controlled by the infotainment.

I talked with Erik Glaser (head of UX design) last year before Halloween about the colors specifically. He told me that they saw value in keeping the brilliant colors back for special themes and possibly as another source for revenue stream - like buying a special theme pack or something. So, that's likely not to happen.
Such a shame, as red light preserves night vision (well - impacts it least). It's the one color that makes sense on an out door adventure vehicle - to gate it for seasonal use, or additional revenue is just... ...so Rivian?

That explains why gen1 couldn’t do motion activated exterior noises. But since they are able to add a third locking sound (bird, owl, and frog) why not make that third sound permanent all year until the next holiday update when it switches out to the new one?

They are a business and the main goal is to make money, so ? 🤷‍♂️

Sorry - should have been clearer "future revenue" It will be interesting to see how they manage to charge a subscription for sending 255,0,0 to the internal LEDs, until then I'll keep it on Pacific Sunset :)

The only one missing from your list is the organ sound, which was underrated IMO. It actually scared old ladies loading groceries next to my truck.

I didn't have my truck in time to use the Wolf but I bet it was great. I use the Owl at all times..

I would also like to get the following:
  • Honey Badger
  • Chupacabra
  • Bigfoot
  • New Jersey Devil
  • Mothman
  • Dolphin
  • Howler monkey
  • Squirrels fighting
There was a creaky coffin/door too. It should come back as a permanent fixture, titled "whiney customer".

Just a fun post to see what others feel the top two lock sounds they would like to have. (Rivian's told us in the past that Gen 1 is limited in sound slots, so 2 for normal use and one for special modes) Obviously we wouldn't want the Jingle Bells year round... or would you???

My two choices would be the Owl and the Bog Frog. Keep the day/night setting and Frog day, Owl night. We've had the Blue Bird since the beginning - I'd be ok retiring it for now. I don't mind rotating these sounds a little each year.

What would be your top two choices from the non-specific sounds we've had?

Blue Bird
Wolf
Crow
Owl
Bog Frog

(If I'm missing one, let me know and I'll add it to this list - having a tough Monday :) )
I liked the frog. I don't use the blue bird because I can't hear it most of the time. I like the owl because I can always hear it.

I hear you. Depending on where I am, there are other vehicles that have similar lock sound to the bluebird (chirp) and I can never be sure it was my vehicle so I have to check my phone. The frog and owl definitely aren't that way unless you are at a Rivian club meet up.

I was disappointed when the bog frog went away. I did like that sound when locking

Used the owl all the time until I was in a campground and it kept going off every time I walked in or out of my RV. Would love to have first notes of Beethoven's 5th - da-da-da-DAAA

My Rivian didn't feel quite right, until bog frog. Long live the bog frog!
Took my wife to a cardiologist appt yesterday and she heard the bird as we were going in. She asked where the frog went. I told her Halloween mode was gone. She actually said it better be back when the R2 comes :p .
