Scammer Alert - Joshua Herrera

Ok, so Joshua Herero is a scammer. I bought mats from him for $100 and right after he blocked me on IM, no further communication. He asked for Zelle, in his “wife’s name” Varol Bradford. He tried desperately to sell me a set of 22 inch wheels with tires, saying “I am negotiable” for 3K, then posted to the FB page for 2.5K INCL shipping!! Once I saw the post, I knew he was not legit - no one would sell those wheels for that price! Attached are the pictures he sent me…..

Let’s get his name out there!!

So here is what happened - he advertised a set of new floor mats for $100 on Facebook (he is banned on the two FB groups now). Then we switched the communication to IM. I paid him via Zelle as he requested (my mistake) to his wife Carol Bradford, email given was [email protected], for $100 for the mats that he showed in the picture. Once he got paid, I asked for ship info. Then, he started a hard sell on new crossbars for 350 shipped and new 22’s with tires for $3000 shipped, and provided pictures again. Also sent me pictures. That’s when I got suspicious and declined on both. I asked him for ship info again, to which he replied “Okay”. Today on IM it says this User is no longer available. I then noticed that he posted the 4 wheels on FB, for $2500! There is the entire scam!!!

Yeah, never buy anything from a stranger with Zelle. Once that payment is confirmed, it’s a done deal. And the “send it to my wife’s account” is a common scam too. Lots of red flags with that guy.

I think he got $100 of his money (if I followed this correctly) but it could have been much worse.

Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before scammers tried to take advantage of honest folks in the community.

Thanks for posting these pictures - the scammer probably keeps using the same ones over and over again (and they probably aren't even his) so if you see these photos - run.

The common theme I've noticed is that though these profiles are quite well maintained and 'aged' they all only seem to want to sell rivian parts and have a set of likes on their posts that seem geographically separated from where you'd expect considering their profile. Also watch out for photoshopped name/dates - some of them are pretty good, I was only saved from 'steve tucker' when I noticed the shadow from the crossbars was not hitting the paper his name was on...

Yep, he’s a scammer. Offered me a charger too, in addition to the mats, wheels and crossbars. A few hundred isn’t a big deal. It’s fun to waste the time of these POS scammers. But man would I have been mad if I bought the wheels!

As soon as I saw his price it made sense….total scam! There will be others…..just need to be vigilant and pay with PayPal or something where you have recourse.

for what its worth I've commented "Scammer" on FB since I first saw a posting on a set of 20" Bright ATs for that same crazy-low price. The profile showed an address. I Goggle Earth'd it and i was a car repair center. I phoned them (Google tagged the biz name with phone #) and they had no clue what I was talking about and never heard that guy's name before.

Possibly the best "scam the scammer" of all times is the Martin Coles "Anus Laptops" scambait. I choked multiple times laughing so hard when I read this years ago. Long read, ideal with a beer in hand.
