Assuming nothing blows up with loan approval, I'm picking my Dual Max R1T on Monday 12/18, 4 years and 8 months after reserving an R1T. We plan to leave the next day to visit our kids in California and Oregon for Christmas.

Is there any reason (besides cost) why we should take our Prius instead? Have people who have experienced serious problems had them tend to show up in the first couple of weeks?

Any tips on things to look for or ask about before we leave the factory?

I think you’ll be fine. Congrats on pickup!

Yes, 100% go for it. Rivian support will help you out if anything comes up.

Make sure to test launch mode as soon as you leave the factory.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I’d do it in a heartbeat. Plenty of charging along the way.

I say go for it…

I picked mine up in Normal Last January, drove home to SoCal by way of Boston, 5100 miles, great way to get acquainted with the vehicle. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Download PlugShare, set up accounts on EA, EVGo, and Chargepoint before you leave.

Best to try to plan a route beforehand and have an idea of what charging stations on your route are the ones you want to stop at. Plugshare is the most obvious place to look. The on-board nav doesn't know every station and doesn't offer a way to check if it has been reliable for others lately.

It's December so, I'd rather have a R1T than a Prius. Talk to your advisor. Plan ahead for charging and you should be fine. Read the post about the gent that just did a 10k drive. All the best.
