WSJ reports that along with the 10% headcount reduction, two prominent Tesla execs are departing. Drew Baglino and Rohan Patel.

Anyone know much about them? Should RJ be trying to snag this talent?

Also, I have a robo-taxi already. It’s called the subway. (I know, I know, not quite the same but they are equally boring.)

Rivian has already poached so many people from Tesla that I frequently say the cars are quite literally designed by the same people.

Rivian should hire where they have existing gaps and hiring needs. They now have a larger pool to choose from.

Drew Baglino would be a tremendous add. I would love to see him come over to Rivian.

I'm sure there's some other talent as well. I know budget is tight but there's a lot of knowledge and experience in the market. Get it while you can.

I agree. Rivian need to do some gaps analysis and then hire folks that can fill that gap. I am sure Rivian is looking at the attitude as well. I wouldn’t want these folks bringing in Tesla culture, which I think is toxic. As a subscriber to ‘stoic deontological determinism‘ philosophical school of thoughts, I hope they do the right thing.

I have been so happy with what Rivian has done so far - R1S, software priorities in terms of update sequence etc. as they say: The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge. So I sincerely hope that Rivian stays innovative as they have been.

That's what I was going to say no they don't need the executives they're going to make couple hundred thousand dollars just in payroll a year let alone anything else They need to cut some spending and figure out how to make people want to buy their vehicle more.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

I don’t think either person wants a new job right now. They both said they want to spend more time with their families. Maybe 6 months from now.

Rivian needs to focus on staying lean, cutting costs, and reducing losses, so they don’t go bankrupt. I wish them luck.

Rivian isn't scrappy enough for some of them.

Drew leaving surprised me! I think he has the potential to be a good add.

I think it's mostly sales staff they are axing. But agree with others, there are a lot of great engineers at Tesla to be poached.
