Sold! Ready to bolt on when winter arrives. 😃
Hakka R5 is what I got and a bunch of other forum members as well, there’s lots of threads. Haven’t thoroughly tested them but they did great in a few icy and snowy situations last year.

One thing this old thread doesn’t mention is two pedal driving. Could be useful for snow. I’ve been practicing for off-roading but also because regen level is so unpredictable in the mountains.

Good to know. The ABS works well when the mechanical brakes are engaged. But when I'm only using regen to slow down, the truck often slides sideways, possibly due to lock up. I wish they would let us turn regen off. Then we would know for sure. This does seem like a safety issue.
Having to work against regen while traveling down a snowy hill is illogical and impractical. I wish ā€œsnowā€ mode automatically turned off regen entirely. Last winter with new Nokias R5s, I came close to losing control on a downhill dirt road, while in ā€˜low regen’ mode. This winter I’m going to turn off ā€œbrake assistā€ as well.

When you start to slide, what happens when you put it in Neutral and then use the brakes? I have not tried that, and it may take practice to go from Drive to Neutral, but it seems like that would be the thing to do when regen starts to cause sliding. Or simply switch between Drive and Neutral to minimize sliding.

I haven’t tried this for a number of reasons. 1st, I haven’t practiced shifting to neutral on the fly. 2nd, at the time I had a 20 year old Tacoma and I was able to adapt to driving it when the conditions were similar. However, this is an issue which needs to be addressed in a practical manner. Although shifting to neutral may help the situation, I can think of situations where it wouldn’t. If someone borrowed my truck, for example. One shouldn’t have to ā€œjump through hoopsā€ in order to safely operate a vehicle, especially in slippery conditions. My 2 cents. (For the record, I’ve never had as nice or enjoyed a vehicle as much as with this Rivian. It’s an outstanding truck!)

Neutral also is not immediate. There is quite a delay unfortunately so be prepared to implement it early before a sliding panic sets in.
