I was a very serious wood worker at one time and ash wood is cheap..... I am not buying that the wood work in an $80K+ vehicle is even noticeable....

The wood might be cheap but the process is very involved and labor intensive.

I expect Rivian to eventually scrap the wood option entirely just to simplify production. That’s why I am definitely keeping it in my order (I also like the way it looks). Things like wood dash and quad motors might be unicorns someday.

I am not gonna sit here and claim any official Rivian dates are reliable, but OC has already been delivered in R1Ts and revised R1S OC dates are in the first half of 2023. Saying it won’t be delivered at all until 2024 triggers quite a lot of skepticism.

I am not so sure.... It is probably totally automated.... I could make that piece by hand in a few hours, so it cannot be more than a few hundred dollars to produce...

Could this be a rivian nomenclature thing? In the rivian stories post you heard Tony Say that they are calling ocean coast referring to the vinyl dash and ocean coast with dark wood ash being the more original option.

the fuck is this? That’s not how backing a startup works. You don’t penalize people for buying in early.

more proof that early orders were just to pad the numbers for IPO, no wonder they make it so easy to cancel.

I can’t imagine the underbody shield offers that much sound isolation.

Also, I am a Compass Yellow R1S with an April-June 23 delivery, which in the scheme of things isn’t that late.
